The rat model of 70 % partial hepatectomy (PH) is commonly used to investigate liver regeneration processes. aim this study was explore the dynamics hepatic lipid accumulation and its correlation with proliferation response during entire phase after PH in rats. Sixty-four rats underwent were randomly divided into eight groups for evaluation on post-operative day (POD) 1 8. Hepatocyte volume, relative content, volume per hepatocyte assessed by stereological analysis. Results: Lipid reached...

Abstract Background Every fifth patient undergoing left pancreatectomy develops a postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF). Accurate POPF risk prediction could help. Two independent preoperative models have been developed and externally validated: DISPAIR D-FRS. The aim of this study was to validate, compare, possibly update the models. Methods Patients from nine high-volume surgery centres (8 in Europe 1 North America) were included retrospective cohort study. Inclusion criteria age over 18...

Assessment of liver function is essential before partial hepatectomy to predict the risk post failure, a severe and life-threatening complication. Traditional methods have focused on expected future remnant (FLR) volume estimation. However, does not always correlate with function. We suggest that metabolism might be better surrogate for than volume. Therefore, we aimed investigate metabolic changes in porcine model portal vein ligation (PVL) using hyperpolarized magnetic resonance imaging...

Meropenem may be an important drug in the treatment of open tibial fractures and chronic osteomyelitis. Therefore, objective this study was to describe meropenem pharmacokinetics plasma, subcutaneous adipose tissue (SCT), cancellous bone using microdialysis a porcine model.Six female pigs were assigned receive 1000 mg intravenously over five minutes. Measurements obtained from SCT, for eight hours thereafter. Microdialysis applied sampling solid tissues. The concentrations determined...

Results from the 1989 and 1993 surveys of school psychology state leadership graduate training programs were used to examine market demands for practitioners. Student psychologist ratios continue vary significantly between regions. The overall national student-to-practitioner ratio remained consistent as did general patterns across states Enrollment in has not changed during past 10 years, number graduates also relatively stable. Current are related a state's student-to-psychologist current...

Abstract Background The upper limit for liver resections in rats is approximately 90%. In the early postoperative phase, mortality increases. aim of present study was to validate rat model 90% partial hepatectomy (PH) as a post‐hepatectomy failure (PHLF). Further, we wanted test quantitative scoring system detector lethal outcomes caused by PHLF rats. Methods Sixty‐eight were randomized PH, sham operation, or no surgery. block randomization performed based on time euthanization: 12, 24, 48 h...

Objectives Splenectomy is a common surgical procedure, and splenectomized patients have shown to be severely more affected by certain infections than with preserved splenic function. We investigated the risk of COVID-19 infection subsequent hospitalisation death in patients.

Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) and hepatic steatosis are evident shortly after extensive partial hepatectomy (PH) in rodents. This study aimed to extrapolate the protein expression biological pathways involved recovering PHLF (rPHLF) non-recovering (nrPHLF).

The upper limit for partial hepatectomy (PH) in rats is 90%, which associated with an increased risk of post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF), correlating high mortality. Sixty-eight were randomized to 90% PH, sham operation, or no surgery. Further block randomization was performed determine the time euthanasia, whether 12, 24, 48 h after A general distress score (GDS) calculated distinguish between reversible (GDS < 10) and irreversible PHLF ≥ 10). Abstract Background We examined the impact of early (0–4 weeks after discharge) versus late (> 4–8 initiation adjuvant chemotherapy on pancreatic adenocarcinoma survival. Methods used Danish population-based healthcare registries to emulate a hypothetical target trial using clone-censor-weight approach. All eligible patients were cloned with one clone assigned ‘early initiation’ and ‘late initiation’. Clones censored when treatment was no longer compatible actual treatment. Informative...

Abstract Purpose We examined the association between use of beta‐blockers and survival in pancreatic cancer patients after curative‐intent surgery. Methods Using Danish healthcare registries, we conducted a population‐based cohort study all undergoing surgery for Denmark 1997–2021. defined beta‐blocker according to exposure before as current (≤90 days), recent (91–365 or former (366–730 days) use, requiring at least one filled prescription. Tenosynovitis of the extensor pollicis longus (EPL) is rarely reported in patients without rheumatoid arthritis but may lead to thumb snapping as a consequence EPL stenosing tenosynovitis. This case presents painful that developed after wrist trauma and repetitive loading. Ultrasound MRI were used diagnostic tools, before surgical release third compartment was performed. Neither tenosynovitis nor found at follow-up.
