Abstract Gas hydrates represent a huge reservoir of methane in marine sediments, prone to dissociation response environmental changes. There is consensus that past events gas hydrate the environment mainly occurred during periods low sea level. Here, we report geochemical data for 2‐m‐thick layers seep carbonate collected from hydrate‐bearing drill core ~800‐m water depth northern South China Sea. The aragonite‐rich carbonates reveal positive δ 18 O values, confirming genetic link with...

The genus Provanna (belonging to Superfamily Abyssochrysoidea) is a group of globally distributed gastropods commonly discovered in the deep-sea chemosynthetic environments. To date it composed 29 extant and nine fossil species all them seem be endemic vents, seeps or organic falls. Despite increasing interest cold South China Sea recent decades, how this area largely unknown. A new species, dongshaensis sp. nov. , collected from hydrate-bearing sediments seep northern SCS, was studied....

Cells communicate with each other via the transmission and reception of signal molecules. In this paper, we test our hypothesis that random cell motion can enhance cell-cell communication. We first conducted cell-tracking experiments to obtain motility parameters endothelial cells, then used molecular communication framework achievable rates at which cells communicate. Our results show benefit when molecules use are an order magnitude less-diffusive than well-known vascular growth factors.

Molecular communication (MC) has attracted people's attention due to its potential applications at the micro- nano-scale. In MC, transmission rate is usually very low slow diffusion of information molecules and therefore multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system introduced. However, severe interference occurs when same types are used different antennas. Up now, most literature focuses on MIMO systems with symmetrical topology. this paper, a molecular asymmetrical topology, where number...

Cold-water corals (CWCs) are frequently found at cold seep areas. However, the relationship between fluid seepage and CWC development is not clear. Here, for first time, we report occurrences, species identification, mineralogy, carbon oxygen isotopes, as well elemental compositions of fossil skeletons from gas-hydrate-bearing sediment in drilling cores South China Sea (SCS). Three sites (GMGS-08, GMGS-09B, GMGS-16) were investigated but CWCs only one site (GMGS-09B). Interestingly, three...

Molecular signals are fundamental to achieving synchronous functionality in both biological and bio-engineering systems. Synchronization on complex molecular signaling networks depend local diffusion-advection dynamics the overall network topology. Here, we consider a spatial-temporal dynamic with signaling. Unlike current Kuramoto phase models that only scalar coupling between oscillator units, introduce lag represents realistic transportation processes. Our results across different show...

As the second-largest contributor to historical global warming, methane emissions must be controlled slow down temperature increase and achieve climate benefits. Due a lack of knowledge about specific sources processes, quantitative approach will lead inaccurate estimation. In this paper, typical local distribution company with more than 100 years operation history was chosen. Detailed procedures pipeline constructions accidents were investigated, critical steps leading clarified. Then...
