Hybridization and introgression are antagonistic to the process of speciation. If hybrids viable backcross, will slow or prevent evolution reproductive isolation between populations. species hybridize upon secondary contact, ultimately erode boundaries. hybridization is rampant gene flow high, proportion approach values expected with random mating, overcome boundaries, homogenizing Alternatively, if genetically distinct, would be significantly less than interrupted by selection against...
The analysis of variation among 203 nucleotide sequences Co-1 gene (DNA-barcode) for 45 species, 31 genera and 7 families the order Perciformes from Far Eastern seas Russia has been performed. As a result, 42 species (93.3%) can be unambiguously identified using molecular DNA-barcode at Co-1, whereas more variable markers are required other (6.7%): Stichaeus grigorjewi, S. nozawae, Lumpenus sagitta. latter includes as well 2 morphologically distinct (by number vertebrae) but genetically...
Mitochondrial DNA at the cytochrome oxidase 1 (Co-1) gene region was sequenced for six flatfish species (in total, 11 sequences of least 539 base pairs) from Far East Russia and compared with other Pleuronectiformes, comprising altogether 26 two outgroup (Perciformes). An analysis protein-coding Co-1 revealed a statistically substantiated bias in (T + C):(A G) content, supporting earlier findings. Average scores p-distances different scales evolutionary history clear pattern increased...
