A retrospective analysis was performed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors in patients with clear cell carcinoma (CCC) of ovary. After central pathological review scanning medical records nine Japanese institutions between 1992 2003, a total 254 CCC ovary were enrolled present study. Mean age 52.4 years (range 23–73 years). Tumours 13% (33/254) stage Ia, 36% (92/254) Ic, II, 30% (80/254) III, 6% (16/254) IV. Five-year progression-free survival overall 84 88% I, 57...

Acoustic emission (AE) during a pressure test of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic tank was measured using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor and, for comparison, conventional piezoelectric sensor. The FBG-inscribed optical used not only as an transmission line but also ultrasonic line. FBG showed resonant characteristics and could detect AE continuously the test. detected with exhibited cumulative behavior similar to that demonstrated have comparable detection capability sensors.

A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) vibration-sensing system employing a ring laser utilizing an FBG sensor as the cavity mirror was designed and developed herein. The emitted lasing light at wavelength of sensor, intensity varied with vibrations applied to sensor. Experiments demonstrated that this could detect, good sensitivity, over broad band, ranging from just few hertz up ultrasound. This sensing should be able detect regardless both strain temperature

The influence of grating length and bend radius long-period gratings (LPGs) on refractive index sensing was examined. Sensitivity to indexes smaller than that silica could be enhanced by bending LPGs. Bent LPGs lost sensitivity higher silica, whereas a 20-mm-long LPG arranged in straight line had considerable sensitivity. These experimental results demonstrated the characteristics controlled radius.

In conventional ultrasound detection in structures, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is glued on or embedded the structure. However, application of strain to structure can influence sensitivity FBG toward and prevent its effective detection. An work as strain-insensitive sensor when it not directly monitored structure, but instead applied small thin plate form mobile sensor. Another possible configuration affix an FBG-inscribed optical without section attached present study, propagated through...

In the mitotic exit network of budding yeast, Dbf2 kinase phosphorylates and regulates Cdc14 phosphatase. contrast, no phosphatase substrates LATS1/WARTS kinase, mammalian equivalent Dbf2, has been reported. To address this discrepancy, we performed phosphoproteomic screening using LATS1 kinase. Screening identified MYPT1 (myosin phosphatase–targeting subunit 1) as a new substrate for LATS1. directly preferentially phosphorylated serine 445 (S445) MYPT1. An mutant (S445A) failed to...

Ovarian clear cell carcinoma (CCC) is regarded as grade 3 tumor, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Clinical Practice Guidelines recommend adjuvant chemotherapy for tumor even at stage IA. However, CCC often showed chemo-resistant phenotype, effect of still remained uncertain.Clear cases treated collaborating institutions during period 1992-2005 were retrospectively identified. After a central pathological review, survival analysis was estimated by Kaplan-Meier method,...

Aimed at the low accuracy problem of shear strain measurement in Moiré methods, a two-dimensional (2D) phase analysis method is proposed for full-field deformation with high accuracy. A grid image first processed by spatial phase-shifting sampling technique to get phases two directions, which are then conjointly analyzed measuring 2D displacement and distributions. The especially remarkably improved, dynamic measurable from automatic batch processing single-shot images. As an application,...

We propose a generation laser scanning method for imaging of the propagation ultrasounds. By pulsed-laser beam on an object ultrasounds, propagated ultrasounds were detected by fixed PZT transducer. Although waves generated from different irradiation points, we could, means simple data processing, produce dynamic images reception transducer position. Since this requires no adjustment incident angle or focus, can easily visualize ultrasound propagating solid media having complicated shape....

Transcriptional activation of gene expression directed by the long terminal repeat (LTR) HIV-1 requires both transactivation response element (TAR) and Tat protein. mutants lacking a functional tat are not able to proliferate. Here we take genetic approach suppress replication based on Tat-dependent production MazF, an ACA-specific endoribonuclease (mRNA interferase) from Escherichia coli. When induced, MazF is known cause Bak- NBK-dependent apoptotic cell death in mammalian cells. We first...
