Combining inhibitors is a key strategy to increase inhibitory efficacy because of synergistic effects. In this study, green pharmaceutical inhibitor, amoxicillin (AML), was screened and compounded with potassium iodide (KI) successfully obtain highly efficient inhibitor. The results revealed that AML/KI have excellent anticorrosion ability for Q235 steel in 1 M HCl medium. At the optimal concentration ratio 2 mM AML +5 KI, inhibition efficiency up 97.7%, which significantly higher than alone...

Glutathione (GSH) is the most abundant thiol in mammalian cells and plays a crucial role maintaining redox cellular homeostasis. The thiols of two GSH molecules can be oxidized to disulfide GSSG. cytosolic GSH/GSSG ratio very high (>100), its reduction lead apoptosis or necrosis, which are interest cancer research. CuII ions efficient oxidants thiols, but with an excess GSH, CuIn(GS)m clusters formed, CuI slowly reoxidized by O2 at pH 7.4 even more lower pH. Here, aerobic oxidation was...

α-Pyridyl thiosemicarbazones (TSC) such as Triapine (3AP) and Dp44mT are a promising class of anticancer agents. Contrary to Triapine, showed pronounced synergism with CuII, which may be due the generation reactive oxygen species (ROS) by Dp44mT-bound CuII ions. However, in intracellular environment, complexes have cope glutathione (GSH), relevant reductant CuI-chelator. Here, aiming at rationalizing different biological activity Dp44mT, we first evaluated ROS production their CuII-complexes...

Al-air battery has been regarded as a promising new energy source. However, the self-corrosion of aluminum anode leads to loss capacity and decrease in longevity, limiting its commercial applications. Herein, indole-2-carboxylic acid (ICA) added 4 M NaOH corrosion inhibitor. Its impact on alloy enhancement functionality batteries at various concentrations have investigated. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy,...

We introduce a family of membrane-targeted azobenzenes (MTs) with push-pull character as new tool for cell stimulation. These molecules are water soluble and spontaneously partition in the membrane. Upon light irradiation, they isomerize from trans to cis, changing local charge distribution thus stimulating response. Specifically, MTs photoisomerization induces clear reproducible depolarization. The most promising species, MTP2, was extensively studied. Time-resolved spectroscopy techniques...

Some microorganisms, like the aerobic soil bacteria, Oligotropha carboxidovorans, have capability to oxidize highly toxic atmospheric gas carbon monoxide (CO) into CO2 through CO dehydrogenase enzymes, whose active site contains a bimetallic MoCu center. Over last decades, number of experimental and theoretical investigations were devoted understanding mechanism oxidation and, in particular, role very stable thiocarbonate intermediate that may be formed during catalytic cycle. The occurrence...
