This review article aims to provide an overview and insight into the most relevant aspects of wind energy development current state-of-the-art. The industry is in a very mature stage, so it seems be right time take stock areas use for power generation. For this review, authors considered essential technology: research, modeling, prediction speed as source, technology plants divided mechanical electrical systems plant control, finally optimal operation including maintenance strategies. focus...
This paper deals with the optimization of components a multiphase interleaved operated buck converter for battery charging applications and proposes two control strategies. The proposed strategies allow number active phases switching frequency to be adapted according output power, enabling significant increase power handling capability without increasing size semiconductor. can further exploited decrease semiconductor cooling system given power. In addition, partial load efficiency is...
This paper proposes a novel control strategy for multiphase interleaved dc-dc converters EV battery charging applications. The proposed allows to adapt the number of active phases and switching frequency according output power. results an increased partial load efficiency current handling capability semiconductors while size semiconductor, magnetic components cooling system is reduced. An experimental validation method presented.
This paper shows a new concept to generate medium voltage (MV) in wind power application avoid an additional transformer. Therefore, the generator must be redesigned with constraints and topology for rectifier system by using multiple low (LV) rectifiers connected series parallel increase DC output voltage. The combination of connection is further introduced as DC-cascade. With resulting DC-cascade, achieved without bulky approach form DC-cascade reduces effort required achieve simple...
A study of permanent magnet synchronous generator, constructed as a ring-generator, is presented in this paper. With approach milestone reducing weight wind turbines high power applications like 10 MW generators can be reached. As proof-of-concept scaled generator with rated 200 kVA will realized test bench. distributed control and an active damping axial mechanical vibrations done. In order to achieve damping, the divided several electrical segments.
This paper presents the design and control structure of a synchronous generator in ring form. The analysed is designed order to test light-weight 10 MW for wind turbines. A segmented stator with distributed allows current single segments which facilitates damping axial displacement due varying speeds by controlling forces. layout process generator, its are presented this paper.
The current transformation of the energy system brings new challenges in areas supply security, reliability, and efficiency. Especially decentralization leads to an increasing complexity a bidirectional power flow. This requires expansion initiative-taking operation distribution grid. To investigate behavior complex dynamic grid or individual plants within it, novel methods such as digital twins can be used. In this approach, model is developed based on real grid, which represent predict...
The recent transformation of the energy sector brings new challenges in areas such as supply security, efficiency and reliability. Especially increase decentralized power plants leads to a more complex system an increasing complexity. This requires expansion digitization grid well initiative-taking operation operator. To investigate systems its phenomena, modern development methods real-time simulation or digital twins (DT) can be used. In this approach replica real-world system, section, is...
In this paper a new topology of gearless, segmented synchronous generator and power converter system is presented to address medium output voltage in wind applications. To fulfill the boundary condition, has high pole count stator divided into several 3-phase segments with their own rectifier. With resulting DC-cascade (series connection rectifiers) it possible achieve low converters without bulky transformer. This reduces effort DC turbines simplifies system.
Recent technology advances in wind energy conversion systems include a new type of permanent magnet synchronous generator with segmented stator that allows lightweight concepts high efficiency and superior controllability. Each segment is driven by separate power converter. The various cascaded converters can be connected series parallel, which ultimately leads to the superposition DC an AC voltage stress insulation coils. resulting DC-AC mixed entirely electrical for epoxy-mica system...
This paper presents a novel strategy to reduce current distortion during voltage zero-crossing in ANPC-inverters (active neutral-point-clamped-inverters). Due the necessity insert small switching blocking-time (dead-time) between transition of high and low side switches inverter, effectively useable duty cycle will be limited, resulting dead-band near 0% 100% cycle. Values inside this clamped either or respectively, introducing glitch output voltages consecutively leading distortion. With...
