Abstract The cell envelope of Salmonella typhimurium has been separated into cytoplasmic and outer membrane fractions relatively high purity by a new method based on isopycnic sucrose density gradient centrifugation the total fraction obtained lysis lysozyme-EDTA spheroplasts. contained approximately 60% protein membranes, 50% phospholipid, 90% lipopolysaccharide. differed markedly in over-all composition as determined polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate well specific...

The site of synthesis lipopolysaccharide has been investigated in cytoplasmic and outer membrane fractions isolated by isopycnic sucrose gradient centrifugation the total fraction from lysozyme-EDTA spheroplasts. Evidence that O-antigen occurs exclusively was obtained pulse-chase experiments vivo assay biosynthetic enzymes fractions. O-Antigen chains pulse-labeled with [14C]mannose appeared initially membrane, but were rapidly transferred to during a subsequent chase nonradioactive mannose....

Sulfur-based coordination polymers have gained significant attention, yet constructing 3D sulfur-based networks remains challenging. This study presents two novel water-stable silver-sulfur MOFs: {[Ag6Cl2(L3)5][BF4]4}n(SCU-1) and [AgSCN(L3)]n(SCU-2). Single crystals were synthesized using the branched tube method, X-ray crystallography revealed SCU-1's large cationic framework with 193 atoms per unit cell a volume of ∼10,000 Å3, exhibiting 15.1% porosity. SCU-2, simpler structure, showed...

Abstract The sustainable management of plastic waste is one the challenges our time due to high percentage landfilling. One strategies its thermal treatment via pyrolysis, but it associated with production a char, necessitating proper valorization pathway. In this work, we investigated for first use as adsorbent real plastic-derived char obtained such from pyrolysis pilot plant. This novel approach respect literature, where typically desired product. was characterized several techniques, and...

The aim of this work is to shed light on the polymorphism xanthones, a class oxygenated molecules well known for their bioactivity, including antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory effects. Understanding xanthones can enable design novel solid products pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, agrochemical applications. Prior work, two entries accounting different space groups were deposited 9-xanthone in Cambridge Structure Database (CSD): an orthorhombic P212121 monoclinic P21 structure...

The synthesis and characterization of the N-rich bis(triazole) compound 1H,4'H-[3,3'-bis(1,2,4-triazole)]-4',5,5'-triamine (C4H7N9) with a N content 69.6% by weight is reported. exhibits rich acid-base behavior because it can accept up to two protons, forming monocation dication, lose one proton, an anion. Measurement acid constants has shown that there exist well-defined pH intervals in which each four species predominant solution, opening way their isolation single-crystal X-ray analysis...

Quercetin, a naturally occurring bioflavonoid substance widely used in the nutraceutical and food industries, exists various solid forms that can have different physicochemical properties, thus impacting this compound's performance applications. In work, we will clarify complex solid-form landscape of molecule. Two elusive isostructural solvates quercetin were obtained from ethanol methanol. The crystals characterized experimentally, but crystallographic structure could not be solved due to...

Thermosalient transitions are a subset of single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) transitions, in which the change lattice parameters is highly anisotropic and very fast. As result, crystals at transition undergo macroscopic dynamical effects (hopping, jumping, shattering). These feature conversion heat to mechanical energy that can be exploited realization advanced materials. Most thermosalient observed temperatures higher than room temperature. Examples low-temperature rare. We describe...

In the present paper, we examine eight species of Antarctic fish belonging to suborder Notothenioidei, using reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, investigate presence mRNAs encoding metallothionein (MT) isoforms. A total 168 bp from coding region and complete (133-165 bp) 3' untranslated (UTR) was obtained for all (for three them, also sequenced full-length cDNA, including 5' UTR). Phylogenetic analyses carried out on MT-coding suggest monophyly MTs with respect other teleost MT...
