Progressive cerebral accumulation of amyloid beta-protein (Abeta) is an early and invariant feature Alzheimer's disease. Little known about how Abeta, after being secreted, degraded cleared from the extracellular space brain. Defective Abeta degradation could be a risk factor for development disease in some subjects. We reported previously that microglial cells release substantial amounts Abeta-degrading protease that, purification, indistinguishable insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE). Here we...
Objective To investigate the prevalence, developmental potential, chromosomal constitution and clinical outcome of embryos with direct unequal cleavages (DUC). Design A retrospective observational study. Setting Academic Institution. Participant 21,261 from 3,155 cycles cultured in EmbryoScope®. Results The total incidence DUCs per embryo occupying first three were 26.1%. Depending cell stage, DUC rate was 9.8% at cleavage (DUC-1), 9.1% second (DUC-2), 3.7% third (DUC-3) 3.6% exhibiting...
National investigations on age-specific modifiable risk factor profiles for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality are scarce in China, the country that is experiencing a huge cardiometabolic burden exacerbated by population ageing. This nationwide prospective cohort study of 193,846 adults China Cardiometabolic Disease Cancer Cohort Study, 2011-2016. Among 139,925 participants free from CVD at baseline, we examined hazard ratios population-attributable percentages (PAR%s) all-cause...
3D visualization technology applies computers and other devices to create a realistic virtual world for individuals with various sensory experiences such as vision, touch, smell gain more effective understanding of the relationships between real spatial structures organizations. The purpose this study was comprehensively evaluate effectiveness in human anatomy teaching/training explore potential factors that affect training effects better guide teaching classroom/laboratory anatomy.
Amyloid β-protein (Aβ) is the major component of neuritic (amyloid) plaques in Alzheimer's disease, and its deposition an early constant event complex pathogenetic cascade disease. Although many studies have focused on biosynthetic processing β-amyloid precursor protein production polymerization Aβ, understanding degradation clearance Aβ has received very little attention. By incubating conditioned medium metabolically labeled Aβ-secreting cells with media various cultured cell lines, we...
We aim to investigate the impact of ideal cardiovascular health metrics (ICVHMs) on association between famine exposure and adulthood diabetes risk. This study included 77,925 participants from China Cardiometabolic Disease Cancer Cohort (4C) Study who were born around time Chinese Great Famine free at baseline. They divided into three groups according birth year, including nonexposed (1963-1974), fetal exposed (1959-1962), childhood (1949-1958). Relative risk regression was used examine...
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the recently reported observation acoustic stop bands in two-dimensional scattering arrays [Robertson and Rudy, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 104, 694 (1998)]. A self-consistent wave theory, incorporating all orders multiple scattering, is used to obtain transmission. The band structures for regular cylinders are computed using plane-wave expansion method. results compare favorably with experimental data.
Mitochondria are the energy factories of cells. The abnormality mitochondrial metabolism pathways is closely related to occurrence and development lung cancer. abnormal genes in might be novel targets biomarkers diagnose treat cancers.Genes major were obtained from KEGG database. transcriptomic, mutation, clinical data cancers Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Genes mined that affected cancer survival. Gene enrichment analysis was performed with ClusterProfiler gene set (GSEA). STRING database...
Introduction The diagnosis and treatment of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a difficult task, especially in less developed countries without access to experts. To address this issue, comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) tool was created help diagnose predict the course AS. Methods In retrospective study, dataset 5389 pelvic radiographs (PXRs) from patients treated at single medical center between March 2014 April 2022 used create an ensemble deep learning (DL) model for diagnosing then...
Three-dimensional printing models (3DPs) have been widely used in medical anatomy training. However, the 3DPs evaluation results differ depending on such factors as training objects, experimental design, organ parts, and test content. Thus, this systematic was carried out to better understand role of different populations designs. Controlled (CON) studies were retrieved from PubMed Web Science databases, where participants students or residents. The teaching content is anatomical knowledge...
Motivated by a recent experiment on acoustic lenses, we perform numerical calculations based multiple scattering technique to investigate the focusing of waves with sonic crystals formed rigid cylinders in air. The effects for various shapes are examined. dependence length filling factor is also studied. It observed that both shape and play crucial role controlling focusing. Furthermore, robustness against disorders results show sensitivity behavior depends strength positional disorders....
In this Letter, we present a theoretical analysis of the acoustic transmission through two-dimensional arrays straight rigid cylinders placed parallel in air. Both periodic and completely random arrangements are considered. The results for sound attenuation shown to be remarkable agreement with reported experimental data. As arrangement is randomized, significantly reduced wider range frequencies. For arrays, band structures computed by plane-wave expansion method also agree previous results.
Abstract Background The nature of student learning in problem-based (PBL) largely depends on the quality case scenarios presented to them. effect with higher challenge degree, especially common disease atypical symptoms (CDAS)- and rare (RD)-based scenarios, undergraduate medical students remains unclear. This study compared impact all pertaining typical (CDTS) CDTS interspersed CDAS RD perceptions studying organ/system integration curriculum via PBL. Methods After finishing four 294...
This paper presents an analytic method for studying scattering of acoustic waves by gas-filled prolate spheroids at low frequencies. The is based on the Kirchhoff integral theorem and Strasberg’s finding that surface field velocity normal to are mathematically equivalent electrostatic potential charge density a perfect conductor having same shape [M. Strasberg, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 25, 536–537 (1953)]. boundary-value problem solved with aid from thermodynamic relation. An formula sound...
A 3-D advanced specialized simulator for designing a microwave-tube slow-wave structure (SWS), called the high-frequency circuit (HFCS), has been developed. It is one module of our recently developed suite. The four major features HFCS are as follows: 1) Both lower and higher order tetrahedral basis functions applied in finite-element analysis; 2) two kinds periodic boundary-condition techniques proposed, which dramatically reduces memory requirements solution times; 3) Arnoldi algorithm...
To determine the effect of pharmacist-led specialized medication training on rational drug prescription by family physicians, and to characterize drug-related issues glycemic control patients. We performed a study led clinical pharmacists. Using surveys use doctors patients, 1-year program was developed improve knowledge physicians regarding appropriate use. It consisted an initial survey assess both physician patient use, followed designed address identified deficiencies. The comprised...
