Constrictive pericarditis is a rare and disabling disease that can result in chronic fibrous thickening of the pericardium. The purpose this study was to evaluate long-term outcomes following treatment constrictive by pericardiectomy.Between September 1992 May 2014, 47 patients who underwent pericardiectomy for were retrospectively examined. Demographic, pre-, intra- postoperative data analyzed.Thirty male, mean age 45.8 ± 16.7. Aetiology tuberculosis 22 (46.8 %) patients, idiopathic 15...
Objective: To investigate the predictive value of preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for long-term major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), which have not yet been well described, in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).Methods: The records 751 consecutive who underwent elective CABG between January 2008 2010 were retrospectively enrolled stratified according to quartiles NLR.At 7.8-year follow-up, MACCE was considered as an...
Objective: To determine whether complete blood count parameters could be used as the biomarkers of inflammation in patients with peripheral arterial disease. Methods: Seventy-five disease (study group) and 75 healthy subjects (control were included this retrospective study. Their baseline clinical characteristics laboratory data recorded compared. Data compared using univariate tests including independent samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U-test chi-square test. Moreover, multivariate logistic...
This study aims to examine the predictive role of systemic immune-inflammation index on postoperative new-onset atrial fibrillation in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.A total 722 elective grafting between January 2017 and September 2021 were included this divided into two groups as group (n=172) non-atrial (n=550). Both compared terms patients' baseline clinical features, operative variables, preoperative hematological indices derived from complete blood count...
We aimed to present clinical features, surgical approaches, importance of technique and long-term outcomes our patients with cardiac myxoma who underwent surgery. We retrospectively collected data resection between February 1990 November 2014. Biatrial approach is the preferred method in a large proportion that are operated due left atrial because it provides wider exposure than uniatrial approach. To prevent recurrence during resection, excision made so as include at least 5 mm normal area...
To determine the risk factors and postoperative outcomes of new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) following beating-heart coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery.A total 458 patients who underwent CABG without use aortic cross clamping cardioplegic arrest between January 2011 2015 were included in study, they divided into two groups according to development AF as group (n = 143) non-AF 315). Both compared terms preoperative clinical features perioperative data, determined. The incidence...
To investigate the impact of gender difference in early postoperative outcomes elderly patients (aged 70 or older) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.Between October 2009 and December 2013, a total 223 isolated primary surgery were included this retrospective observational cohort study. Patients divided into two groups according to their gender. The patients' medical records collected, baseline preoperative characteristics, operative data, retrospectively reviewed, effect was...
Giant ascending aortic aneurysm is a rare condition. In this paper, we present an uncommon case of giant with maximal diameter 14 cm in 77-year-old woman presenting unusual symptoms. The patient underwent successful surgery involving replacement, and was discharged without any complication. After discharge, she followed regularly no major problem observed her control visits. To the best our knowledge, largest reported to date existing literature.
Background: The reply of question "which coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) technique is superior in elderly patients, off-pump or on-pump CABG surgery?" controversial. We aimed to compare the early clinical outcomes patients undergoing and CABG.Methods: From January 2009 2015, 344 (aged 70 older) underwent (n = 137) 207) CABG. Patients' medical records were retrospectively reviewed, their baseline preoperative characteristics, operative data postoperative analyzed, thereby a comparison...
Vitamin D has relationships with pathogenesis and inflammation pathways in many diseases. Its deficiency may make clinicians think not only of supplementation but also presence other diseases. To investigate the relationship between vitamin levels deep vein thrombosis (DVT), given that reduced are related to increased risk cardiovascular diseases.Case-control study conducted surgery family medicine departments a hospital Turkey.A total 280 participants were included: 140 each DVT control...
The goal of this study was to assess the relationship postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) with use blood products and hemoglobin levels following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Eighty patients undergoing isolated CABG from June 2013 December in our institution were included study, divided into two groups that contain 40 according their prospective study. In Group 1 2, there whose below 10 g/dL above g/dL, respectively. Groups compared each other occurrence AF, then between AF...
Objective To examine dynamic thiol/disulphide homeostasis metrics as a novel risk factor of oxidative stress in patients with peripheral arterial disease. Methods One hundred lower extremity disease (a study group) and 100 control subjects were included this prospective case–control study. Participants’ baseline clinical characteristics laboratory data including some oxidant/antioxidant status parameters such albumin, ferroxidase myeloperoxidase, native thiol, total thiol disulphide, well...
In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effects of thyroid hormone levels on prognosis patients who underwent congenital heart surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass. A total 40 children were enrolled prospective study. The divided into two groups according presence or absence postoperative low cardiac output state. Plasma free thyroxine, triiodothyronine and stimulating measured preoperatively at 24 48 hours postoperatively. Postoperative state was observed in five (12.5 %). Preoperative...
The incidence of iatrogenic femoral artery pseudoaneurysm (FAP) has dramatically increased due to marked increase endovascular procedures in recent years.Once diagnosed, a prompt and optimal treatment should be done as soon possible avoid potential complications like thromboembolism, ischemia, rupture bleeding. There are several options for this disorder.Among them, open surgical repair is preferred when other therapeutic fail. Here, we present case large rare complication stenting the an...
