The insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF-I-R) plays a critical role in transformation events. It is highly overexpressed most malignant tissues where it functions as an anti-apoptotic agent by enhancing cell survival. Tumor suppressor p53 nuclear transcription that blocks cycle progression and induces apoptosis. the frequently mutated gene human cancer. Cotransfection of Saos-2 (os-teosarcoma-derived cells) RD (rhabdomyosarcoma-derived cells with IGF-I-R promoter constructs driving...

To investigate the potential role(s) of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) in embryogenesis, we have used situ hybridization histochemistry to localize mRNAs for IGF-I, IGF-II, and type I IGF receptor during an early period rat embryonic development (embryonic days 14 15). IGF-I IGF-II were found distinctly different patterns cellular distribution. mRNA was particularly abundant undifferentiated mesenchymal tissue vicinity sprouting nerves spinal ganglia, circumscribed regions developing...

Wilms tumor is a pediatric neoplasm that arises from the metanephric blastema. The expression of gene encoding insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) often elevated in these tumors. Since many actions IGF-II are mediated through activation IGF-I receptor (IGF-IR), we have measured levels IGF-IR mRNA normal kidney and samples using solution hybridization/RNase protection assays. tumors were 5.8-fold higher than adjacent tissue. Among themselves, those containing heterologous stromal elements...

We have examined, in liver and extrahepatic tissues, the effects of fasting on total insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) mRNA levels, levels different IGF-I mRNAs generated by alternative splicing primary transcript, receptor binding levels. A 48-h fast decreased approximately 80% lung liver, 60% kidney muscle, only 30-40% stomach, brain, testes. In heart, did not change. The variants, however, were essentially coordinately regulated within a given tissue. Specific 125I-IGF-I lung, testes,...

Insulin analogues are widely used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Some insulin were reported to display atypical activities vitro that resemble those insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I). The aim this study was investigate whether two long-acting [glargine (Lantus, Sanofi Aventis, Germany) and detemir (Levemir, Novo Nordisk, Denmark)] short-acting [lispro (Humalog, Eli Lilly, Indianapolis, USA) aspart (Novolog, exhibit IGF-I-like on cultured cancer cells comparison with IGF-I regular...

Accumulating epidemiological evidence shows that obesity is associated with an increased risk of several types adult cancers, including endometrial cancer. Chronic hyperinsulinemia, a typical hallmark diabetes, one the leading factors responsible for obesity-cancer connection. Numerous cellular and circulating are involved in biochemical chain events from hyperinsulinemia insulin resistance to cancer and, eventually, tumor development. Introduction Endometrial cancer (EC) is the only gynecologic malignancy showing increasing trends in incidence and mortality. While standard treatment has been effective primarily for early-stage EC, precision medicine with tailored therapy revolutionized management of this disease. Genome sequencing analyses have identified four sub-types EC. Treatments primary metastatic disease can now be more accurately to achieve better oncologic results.

The insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-I-R) has been implicated in the etiology and/or progression of Wilms' tumor, a pediatric malignancy kidney that is often associated with deletion or mutation WT1 tumor suppressor gene. expression IGF-I-R gene increased as compared normal tissue.
