Importance
Microneedle therapy includes skin puncture with multiple micro-sized needles to promote rejuvenation or increase transdermal delivery of topical medications. In cosmetic practices, various cosmeceuticals are applied before microneedling enhance the therapeutic effects. This results in intradermal tattooing product. Despite rapid use microneedles dermatology, there few data about their safety.
Observations
We describe 3 women, aged 40s 60s, who developed facial...
Little is known about the epidemiology of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) in US children. More widespread diagnostic confirmation through epicutaneous patch testing needed. The aim was to quantify test results from providers evaluating children. The study a retrospective analysis deidentified children aged 18 years or younger, entered by participating Pediatric Contact Dermatitis Registry, during first year data collection (2015-2016).One thousand one hundred forty-two cases 34 states, 84...
Summary. Total joint replacement (TJR) is an option for the management of chronic haemophilic arthropathy. Because surgery technically challenging, there a high rate deep prosthetic infections, particularly in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)‐infected individuals. We determined incidence infection rates following total knee and hip arthroplasties HIV‐seropositive HIV‐seronegative persons with haemophilia. Fifty‐one primary replacements were performed on 32 patients seen at regional...
Turmeric, a spice derived from the rhizome of plant Curcuma longa, contains chemical curcumin, which is responsible for turmeric's taste, color, and biologic properties. Curcumin used as in foods, treatment traditional medicine, dye fur, component nutritional supplements. A few cases allergic contact dermatitis curcumin have been reported. We report two urticaria curcumin. These are mediated by different mechanisms urticaria: nonimmunologic immunologic (immunoglobulin-E mediated).
Systemic allergic reaction to a percutaneous patent foramen ovale (PFO) occlusion device is rare event with only scattered reports in the literature. Serious reactions these devices have poorly defined incidence, presentation, and natural history. We present woman previously unknown nickel allergy who developed severe chest pain beginning morning after closure of PFO. Despite multiple visits her cardiologists primary care physicians, cause remained unclear. After seeking second opinion at...
Abstract We assessed outcomes in nickel allergic patients treated with percutaneous interatrial shunt device closure the Helex device. Nickel toxicity has been well described undergoing Amplatzer device, which a nitinol design. There have no reports using patients. Ninety‐five consecutive underwent at single US center by one operator. In those possible allergy, patch testing North American Contact Dermatitis Group standard series and metal was performed. The mean age 48 ± 16 years (range...
Nickel is the most common allergen found by patch testing; however, not all cases of nickel allergy are type 4 (delayed) allergies. Contact urticaria (CU) to (immediate reaction) has been reported; few seem evaluate it as per a recent published survey American Dermatitis Society members. The aim study was present series patients who had clinical histories suggestive and yet were test negative but prick positive nickel, thus demonstrating CU.We reviewed charts 11 positive. All demonstrated...
One of the core capabilities prolonged field care is telemedicine. We developed Virtual Critical Care Consult (VC3) Service to provide Special Operations Forces (SOF) medics with on-demand, virtual consultation experienced critical physicians optimize management and improve outcomes complicated, critically injured or ill patients. Intensive-care doctors staff VC3 continuously. SOF access this service via phone e-mail. A single call reaches an intensivist immediately. An e-mail distribution...
