After forty years of research development, an overview solid-state fermentation (SSF), focusing on its applications, mainly the very recent papers last five years, is presented. This review comprises most important developed processes concerning production enzymes, biopulping processes, and traditional for food fermentation, such as Chinese daqu koji, industrial biomolecules organic acids, pigments, phenolic compounds, aromas biosorbents. SSF bioreactors design that has been reported, so...
A successful pilot-scale process for biodiesel production from microbial oil (Biooil) produced by Rhodosporidium toruloides DEBB 5533 is presented. Using fed-batch strategy (1000L working volume), a lipid productivity of 0.44g/L.h was obtained using low-cost medium composed sugarcane juice and urea. The used its performance evaluated in diesel engine tests, showing very good performance, especially the blend B20 SCO, when operating at 2500rpm with lower pollutant emissions (CO2 - 220% less;...
Renewable energy sources, such as biofuels, represent promising alternatives to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate climate change. Their production through enzymatic hydrolysis has gained relevance by converting agro-industrial waste into fermentable sugars residual oils, which are essential for the generation of bioethanol biodiesel. The fungus Aspergillus stands out a key source enzymes, including cellulases, xylanases, amylases, lipases, crucial breakdown biomass oils produce...
