This research aims at making optimal updates of geological models by jointly inverting flow and seismic data while honoring the geologic spatial continuity. Numerical for reservoir characterization are increasing in complexity, due part to greater need model complex heterogeneity fluid subsurface. These models, once properly calibrated, can make better forecasts. calibration process requires essence solving an inverse problem. The inversion problem is formulated as minimizing mismatch...

This paper discusses the acquisition of image and depth data from Microsoft Kinect's sensors for subsequent reconstruction a tridimensional environment, also emphasizing stage pre-processing. Additionally, an algorithm that uses 3D in order to verify if selected trajectory is viable route without obstacles along its path proposed. Results environment reconstructions trajectories are presented demonstrate performance approach.

Time‐lapse imaging has been successfully applied by oil industry for reservoir monitoring along the years. Another relevant application using similar theoretical background although with different purposes, is to monitor CO2 sequestration detect possible leaks that may cause environmental impact. We propose reduce number of parameters and consequently simplify update surveys two complementary key concepts: (1) keeping information from previous be updated a smaller new survey; (2) adaptive...

A method is described to approximate the 3D form and distribution of mineral dust (MD) aerosol particles based on digital in-line holographic imaging. The concept involves constructing a geometrical hull particle defined by image-perimeter curves from sequence 2D images. Measuring holograms every ten milliseconds results in video revealing flow MD 3D. Examples two samples different mean particle-size are presented.

Dynamic imaging provides an effective way to integrate previous surveys seismic data in order estimate current velocity model. It is particularly useful for time‐lapse imaging, which has been successfully applied reservoir monitoring over the years by oil industry and developed sequestration more recently. This work aims introduce a new dynamic method permanent acquisition systems monitor injection detection of undesired leaks that may cause environmental impact. We propose called DynaSIRT...

Inverse problems in geophysics are usually ill-posed, such a way that regularization is one possibility to have more stable solutions. The quality of the regularized solution however depends on appropriate selection parameter λ. One now popular tool for λ so-called L-curve, reintroduced literature inverse by Hansen 1990’s. L-curve may sometimes provide non-optimal imaging, so present work we compare three methodologies ofλ. first provided Hansen’s toolbox. second visual inspection built us,...
