Abstract The Quaternary dispersal of the red fox Vulpes vulpes in Mediterranean area was evaluated through study allelic variation at 45 enzyme loci 120 individuals from 10 sampling sites. A 375 bp fragment mitochondrial cytochrome b gene also sequenced a total 41 specimens same locations. Nine allozyme were polymorphic. proportion polymorphic per population (P) ranged 0 to 15.6%, and expected average heterozygosity (H) 4.4%. 18 different Cyt haplotypes detected. Most them confined only one...

Diet composition of the golden jackal (Canis aureus, L.) in Bulgaria, where largest population Europe occurs, has been studied by scat analysis a typical and newly occupied agricultural environment. The study was carried out during late summer early autumn, period when small mammal density is high. food typically consisted small-sized wild-living prey species. Rodents have found to represent primary (biomass estimation: 59.3 %, mainly Microtus spp.), European brown hare (Lepus europaeus,...

This study aimed to reveal intraspecific variations in two Dryomys species distributed Türkiye, based on mitochondrial DNA cytochrome b gene sequences, and discuss the factors driving these context of phylogeography genetic concepts. As a result Maximum Likelihood, Bayesian Inference, Network analyses, which included haplogroups or lineages from Italy, Russia, Caucasus, Iran identified previous studies, along with Turkish haplotypes, three major clades (MC1, MC2, MC3) were within nitedula....

1. The effect of gamma-irradiation (4000rd) on the synthesis ribosomal (pre-rRNA) and heterogeneous nuclear RNA (pre-mRNA) in normal regenerating rat liver was studied by using 40 min labelling with [6(-14)C]orotic acid. 2. Partial hepatectomy caused a sharp transient increase specific radioactivity endogenous low-molecular-weight precursors livers both irradiated rats. Irradiation intact animals did not affect pool. 3. enhanced pre-rRNA for at least 12h. pre-mRNA also enhanced, but only...

The East Balkan pig (EBP) is a traditional domestic breed in Bulgaria managed semi-wild conditions and well-adapted to the continental climate rearing on pastures. From genetical historical point of view it important preserve this ancient breed. However, over last several years, dramatic decline EBP herds has been observed. Moreover, introgression between wild boar (WBB) very likely have occurred. In study we used set 10 microsatellites polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length...

Abstract Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes are commonly used markers for monitoring adaptive genetic and evolutionary potential of species. In this study, we investigated variation the MHC class II DRB locus in chamois genus Rupicapra by using next-generation sequencing. Sequencing 102 samples led to identification 25 alleles, 11 which novel. The high ratio relative rates nonsynonymous synonymous mutations (dN/dS) suggests a signal positive selection on locus. We analyzed patterns...

Sex chromosome polymorphism in Bulgarian populations of Guenther's vole (Microtus guentheri Danford & Alston, 1880) has been described. All studied individuals have the diploid number 2n = 54 (FNa 52). The autosomes are acrocentric. karyotype constitutive heterochromatin, located centromeric region. In three autosomal pairs distal heterochromatin sex chromosomes exhibit interpopulation variation morphology and patterns. most individuals, X submetacentric, but there with acrocentric...

A revision was carried out on 245 adult skull specimens of the common vole (Microtus arvalis sensu lato) kept in mammal collection Hungarian Natural History Museum Budapest. highly effective craniometric classification function used to reveal whether they belonged (M. The distribution and Hungary showed both these species occur together all studied...
