An organocatalytic asymmetric Michael addition of nitroalkanes to trifluoromethylated acrylamides in good yields and with excellent diastereoselectivities enantioselectivities is described. The adducts could be readily transformed into optically pure γ-aminobutyric acid 7 high without loss enantioselectivities.
An efficient, highly enantioselective, organocatalytic Michael addition reaction of aldehydes with trifluoroethylidene malonates is described.
