Three types of thin, flexible force sensor were studied under a variety loading conditions to determine their suitability for measuring grip force. Static accuracy, hysteresis, repeatability, and drift errors established, the effects shear surface curvature considered, dynamic accuracy measured. Novel tests developed consider sensitivity loadings. Additionally, three sensors evaluated in real-life gripping scenario, during golf shot. Comments are made on performance, ease use, durability.

There is evidence to suggest a beneficial role for growth factors, including vascular endothelial factor (VEGF), in tissue repair and proliferation after injury within the lung. Whether this effect mediated predominantly by actions on cells or epithelial unknown. This study tested hypothesis that VEGF acts as an autocrine trophic human adult alveolar under situations of pro-apoptotic stress, reduces cell death. In vitro culture looking at effects 0.03% H2O2 both A549 primary distal lung...

Procedural content generation (PCG) has recently become one of the hottest topics in computational intelligence and AI game research. While some substantial progress been made this area, there are still several challenges ranging from evaluation to personalized generation. In paper, we present a novel PCG framework based on machine learning, named learning-based procedure (LBPCG), tackle number challenging problems. By exploring exploiting information gained development public player test,...

Given the global spread of football (soccer) there are substantial differences in playing surfaces used between FIFA member associations. This paper contains results from second part a study on elite players' perceptions across globe. Using questionnaire, which was developed based an initial qualitative study, surface properties natural and artificial (football) turf were examined. In total, 1129 footballers, representing 43 countries six confederations completed questionnaire. Exploratory...

Assessing a coach's technical knowledge of sporting technique can reveal measureable biomechanical parameters associated with successful performance. Therefore, the purpose this study was to identify key that golf coaches associate swing. Sixteen high-level were observed coaching highly skilled golfer after which they participated in semi-structured interview regarding their analysis The data inductively analysed and five intrinsically linked identified: ‘Posture’, Body Rotation’, ‘Arm Wrist...

Abstract Analysing the centre of pressure (COP) and gravity (COG) could reveal stabilising strategies used by golfers throughout golf swing. This study identified compared golfers’ COP COG patterns swing in medial–lateral (ML) anterior–posterior (AP) directions using principal component analysis (PCA) examined their relationship to clubhead velocity. Three‐dimensional marker trajectories were collected Vicon motion force plate data from two Kistler plates for 22 low‐handicap during drives....

Two-dimensional methods have been used to compute trunk kinematic variables (flexion/extension, lateral bend, axial rotation) and X-factor (difference in rotation between pelvis) during the golf swing. Recent studies advocated three-dimensional (3D) analysis due errors associated with two-dimensional (2D) methods, but this has not investigated for all variables. The purpose of study was compare calculated by 2D 3D examine how different approaches influenced their profiles Trunk were golfers...

In this study, grip force was measured during a standard golf tee shot using two different measurement techniques. The first utilized matrix-type thin-film sensor applied to grip, from which total could be readily determined. second method involved 31 individual sensors strategically placed on gloves, allowing the output of specific regions hands measured. Twenty golfers varying ability participated in each test. discovery unique ‘signature’ for golfer emerged these data. That is, had very...

Numerous variables can introduce errors into the measurement chain of a digital image correlation (DIC) system. These be grouped two categories: quality and principle. Although previous studies have attempted to investigate each error source in isolation, there are still no comprehensive, standardized procedures for calibrating DIC systems full-field strain measurement. The aim this study, therefore, was develop an applied experimental method that would enable practitioner perform traceable...

The concept that golf clubs should have a uniform weight distribution means manufacturers invest significant time and money tailoring the swingweight of their clubs. If golfers are unable to perceive changes in swingweight, however, effect on club performance is small, current manufacturing tolerances can be widened, allowing cost savings assembly process.
