Abstract Background Mangroves are important tropical carbon sinks, and their role in mitigating climate change is well documented across the globe. However, ecosystem stocks mangroves of India have not been studied comprehensively. Data from this region very limited for providing sufficient insights authentic evaluation on a regional scale. In study, we evaluated stock its spatial variation Kerala, southwest coast India. Results The mean biomass stored mangrove vegetation Kerala 117.11 ±...
The discovery of new distribution sites advances our understanding the patterns species and have implications in conservation for vulnerable species. This note details population status five additional points a rare, threatened climbing palm species, Korthalsia rogersii, endemic to Andaman Islands.
Pseudoxytenanthera bourdillonii (Gamble) H.B.Naithani, locally known as “Arayambu”, represents one of the lesser-known bamboo species in Western Ghats region Kerala (restricted to Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki and Malappuram districts). Ex perimental methods outlined IS 6874 (2008) were used for moisture content basic density studies. Franklin method was adopted maceration. It...
ABSTRACT Motivation Here, we make available a second version of the BioTIME database, which compiles records abundance estimates for species in sample events ecological assemblages through time. The updated expands 1.0 database by doubling number studies and includes substantial additional curation to taxonomic accuracy records, as well metadata. Moreover, now provide an R package (BioTIMEr) facilitate use database. Main Types Variables Included is composed one main data table containing 11...
The weaving practices of traditional Kanna-dippaya(bamboo reed mat) among tribal communities in Kerala, India, are explored this study. Data was collectedbetween 2021 and 2023 with an ethnographic approach along exploratory design, employing methods such as participant observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, document analysis visual ethnography. With the tradition being one not studied before; key in-formants were identified using snowball sampling method. research aims to...
Random amplified polymorphic DNA fingerprinting was performed to assess the genetic diversity among rarely cultivated traditional indica rice ( Oryza sativa L. ) varieties collected from a tribal hamlet of Kerala State, India. A total 664 bands by 15 primers exhibited 72.9% polymorphism (an average 32.3 per primer). The Jeerakasala and Kalladiyaran highest percent (50.19%) polymorphism, while Thondi Adukkan showed lowest (9.85%). (78 bands) (56 yielded number amplicons, respectively....
Two new taxa of Impatiens (Balsaminaceae), viz., I. sasidharanii sp. nov. and var. hirsuta are described illustrated from the southern Western Ghats India. Detailed notes on description, ecology, distribution, morphological variations IUCN status provided along with illustrations.
Arterolane maleate is an antimalarial drug currently under Phase III clinical evaluation, and presents a simple, economical scalable synthesis, does not suffer from safety problems. more active than artemisinin; cheap to produce. It has longer lifetime in the plasma, so it stays body. To provide quality control over manufacture of any API, essential develop highly selective analytical methods. In current article we are reporting development validation rapid specific Head space gas...
Impatiens glabrata, a new species, is described from Muthikulam forest of Palakkad district, Kerala, India. A description and observations on pollen morphology, ecology, distribution its allied characters between I. henslowiana fruticosa are provided, along with colour photographs.

Knema Phytosociological studies have been carried out in a Myristica swamp Northern Kerala to reveal the composition and distribution pattern of different tree species. On basis IVI, family Myristicaceae was dominant association is attenuata - malabarica -Holigarna arnottiana type. The species like Gymnacranthera canarica fatua var. magnifica, which are believed be essential elements swamps, totally absent here. A total 403 individuals (gbh > 10.1 cm) were recorded with basal area 34.25...
