BACKGROUND Acute liver failure (ALF) is an emergent condition that requires intensive care and manifests in particular by significant elevation serum ammonia level. Patients with ALF concomitant renal experience a further rise levels due to decreased kidney excretion. The aim of this study was evaluate the relationship between elevated mortality characterize subgroup patients who develop acute injury (AKI) require replacement therapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS This retrospective 36 consecutive...
The optimal treatment modality for lowering the triglyceride level in patients with hypertriglyceridemia (HTG)-associated acute pancreatitis is unknown. We evaluated efficacy of continuous insulin infusion and apheresis procedures as triglyceride-lowering therapy.Clinical, demographic, laboratory data were retrospectively HTG-associated who received or a single tertiary center. endpoints effectiveness clinical outcomes. The study included 48 (mean age, 40.4 ± 9.9 years). Apheresis performed...
In the presented case, radiologic, endoscopic and surgical findings of a gossypiboma that migrated into stomach are presented. A 63-year-old woman with epigastric pain, her clinical laboratory were compatible pancreatitis. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed foreign body at greater curvature stomach. Computed tomography magnetic resonance imaging showed mass consistent had transmurally. This is first case diagnosed endoscopically.
Although hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) usually develops in cirrhotic livers, HCCs could also arise non-cirrhotic livers. We aimed to compare the characteristics and survival of cirrhotic- HCCs.
Reports on adrenal insufficiency (AI) are unexpectedly high in cirrhosis, and the diagnosis of this condition remains a challenge. We aimed to define prevalence rate AI stable cirrhotic patients determine correlations free cortisol salivary with total cortisol.Between January 2011 September 2011, 110 consecutive without any infection or hemodynamic instability were enrolled. Baseline levels measured. The level was calculated according Coolens' formula. Post-stimulation measured,...
Aim: Survival data for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is heterogeneous. We aimed to analyze the survival and cost of treatment in cirrhotic HCC. Materials methods:From May 1998 March 2015, 157 HCC diagnosed treated a single center were assessed retrospectively.Etiology, biopsy findings, Child-Pugh-Turcotte (CPT) scores, Barcelona Clinical Liver Cancer (BCLC) stages, response, cost, prognostic factors recorded.Deaths due complications cirrhosis or other diseases excluded.Results:...
The efficacy and safety of triglyceride (TG) apheresis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is unclear. Diabetic complications may predispose to adverse events (AEs) associated the procedure, diabetic dyslipidemia negatively affect therapeutic (TA). We investigated effect DM on TA. Patients severe hypertriglyceridemia who underwent for treatment or prevention acute pancreatitis were included this retrospective study. Epidemiological data, lipid parameters, AEs recorded before after...
Aim: In patients with hormone receptor-positive and HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer, the use of CDK 4/6 inhibitors in combination endocrine therapy have become a standard care.
Methods: This was retrospective study involved over age 18 years, who had de novo or locally cancer progressed to stage were treated ribociclib and/or palbociclib.
 Results: The mean total 73 included 57.0±10.3 years. Thirty-four (46.6%) palbociclib, 35 (47.9%) ribociclib, 4 (5.5%) palbociclib...
Objective: Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a common finding in liver cirrhosis. Besides low portal blood flow, thrombophilia, bacterial translocation and endotoxemia, platelets which are considered as important source of prothrombotic agents may play role thrombotic events Large have been reported to numerous granules that result greater proinflammatory activity. We aimed define the platelet indices PVT among cirrhotic patients. Method: Cirrhotic patients admitted Gastroenterology Clinic...
Background and Aims: The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence adrenal insufficiency according total salivary cortisol evaluate discrepancy between these parameters for diagnosis among stable cirrhotic patients. Materials Methods: A 110 consecutive patients with cirrhosis 30 healthy controls were enrolled into study. Baseline complete blood count, albumin, bilirubin, prothrombin time, levels measured in both free level calculated Coolens formula. One hour after administration...
Metabolic syndrome (MS) has close association with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and is characterized by insulin insensitivity, central obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension high glucose levels. This study aimed to define the prevalence of MS, resistance diabetes among subjects NAFLD. Patients method: In a tertiary center, patients diagnosed have ultrasound were included. Cases drug and/or alcohol use diseases excluded. Anthropometric measures applied. Fasting glucose, insulin,...
To identify the incidence and characteristics of liver enzyme elevations following initiation biological treatments in patients with rheumatological diseases. Patients diseases taking were analyzed retrospectively for new onset test abnormalities. Disease type, duration treatment, concomitant medications, hepatitis b status laboratory tests recorded. Elevation transaminases was defined as grade 1 if ALT elevation 2–3 times ULN, 2 ≥3xULN 3 ≥5xULN. RUCAM score used to assess likelihood causal...
