Soft rot is the most important disease on calla lily in Poland. The isolation of presumptive pathogen from symptomatic tubers nutrient agar yielded bacteria with different colony morphology. Of 41 isolates collected, 10 showed pectolytic activity crystal violet pectate medium and caused soft potato slices. All appeared to be Gram-negative rods producing typical inoculated leaf petioles lily. Bacteria colonies which morphologically resembled those used for inoculation were re-isolated...
The protection of biological diversity in nature and agriculture, including the production ornamental crops, has become increasingly important Poland as well worldwide. Convention on Biological Diversity, signed 1992 at Earth Summit UN Rio de Janeiro ratified by Polish government 1995, imposed new regulations related to genetic resources cultivated crops Poland. conservation genera, varieties cultivars geophytes—a group plants great interest from a botanical physiological, but also...
Effects of polyamines (PAs), their precursors, ornithine (Orn) and arginine (Arg), as well methyl jasmonate (MeJA) were studied on bulb formation in vitro with four tulip cultivars differing bulbing ability. The endogenous PA profiles the shoots monitored during successive micropropagation stages: S1, sixth week standard multiplication subculture; S2, fifth last S3, 5 weeks later, just before cold treatment; S4, at end 13-week-cold S5, 6 after treatment (shoot base swelling/bulb phase)....
The experiments with artificial lighting of vegetable seedlings using different type lamps were carried out on tomato cultivar `Debut' and cucumber `Kafkas', in the period from November 2015 to January 2016. Seedlings grown growth compartments controlled climate (temperature, light, photoperiod) then a greenhouse. For plant 400 W HPS lamps, two variants LED's participation red (R) blue (B) wavelength used. LED I had R (640-660 nm) 54,6%; B (433-450 43,7%, FR (735 1,52% II 68,5%, (433- 450...
ISHS International Symposium on Growing Media and Hydroponics THE EFFECTS OF POTTING MEDIA AND CONCENTRATION NUTRIENT SOLUTION ON GROWTH CONTENT THREE FICUS SPECIES CULTIVATED EBB-AND-FLOW BENCHES
The research was carried on rather small tubers (55-60 g) of four Zantedeschia cultivars: ‘Black Magic’, ‘Pink Persuasion’, ‘Cameo’ and ‘Florex Gold’. aim the experiment evaluation gibberellic acid (GA3) treatment, tuber dips in 0, 50 100 mg L -1 GA3 solutions before planting. Plants were grown outdoors, containers during summer months, from June to October. application generally delayed flowering, however, reaction cultivars different. earliest flowering observed cultivar Gold’, 54 days,...
The aim of the experiment was to evaluate effect different fertilization levels on growth, flowering and flower quality Oriental lilies. Four lily varieties ‘Acapulco’, ‘Le Reve’, ‘Sorbonne’ ‘Siberia’ were grown in boxes summer months, from May August. Before planting, peat sand (9:1) growing medium amended with controlled release fertilizer (CRF), Multicote (16:18:21 + 3 MgO), at three levels: 0, control; 2, 4 g L -1 soil. During vegetation period half plants additionally fed using weekly...
SummaryOriental hybrid lily ‘Star Gazer’ plants were forced in a greenhouse during winter months under natural conditions or with artificial lighting. Supplemental lighting improved plant quality expressed as greater fresh weight, longer flower buds and earlier flowering. Lilies grown supplemental shorter than control plants. To determine how light the presence of affect growth, whole shoots exposed to 14CO2 at flowering time. Removing two weeks before conjunction higher level significantly...
The response of osteospermum 'Denebola' and New Guinea impatiens 'Timor' grown on ebb-and-flow benches to different water potential growing medium applied during whole period was investigated by measuring plant growth parameters stomatal conductance (gS). After cutting establishment, four irrigation treatments based soil were osteospermum: at -0,5 , -3,0 -10,0 -20 kPa. In the case last treatment omitted. Plants evaluated when they reach one ofthe three stages: lateral...
Abstract The aim of the experiment was to assess effects supplemental lighting cucumber grown in greenhouse using lamps with differentiated light spectra: sodium – high-pressure (HPS) and emitting diodes (LEDs). Plants (cucumber ‘Pacto’ F 1 ) were two compartments five treatments: I HPS + LED (top LEDs as interlighting), II only top light, III R (LED chips on board (COB) type an increased level red band), IV W COB type, white), V B blue spectrum). Light one compartment other three (red...
