The three essential pillars of magnetic data storage devices are readability, writeability, and stability. However, these requirements compete as domain sizes reach the fundamental limit single atoms molecules. proven bistability individual holmium on magnesium oxide appeared to operate within this trilemma, sacrificing writeability for unprecedented Using stray field created by tip a spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscope (SP-STM), we controllably move Ho state into quantum regime,...

We combine spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy with quantum master equation analysis to investigate the spin dynamics of single atom magnet Dy on graphene/Ir(111). By performing reading and writing experiments, we show that strongly polarized 5d6s valence shells, as well their intra-atomic exchange coupling 4f shell, determine pathways for magnetization relaxation thus dynamics. The good number determines which states are stable mechanisms reversal exist in a given crystal field is...

The probability of positron annihilation momentum transfer to a trapped deuteron is calculated based on neutron measurements from 2H(d,n)3He reactions in deuterated palladium thin films. Deuterium gas loading Pd films creates high D/Pd fraction at point defects the metal lattice. Unmoderated positrons Na-22 source thermalize and are same as deuterium Similar Mössbauer effect, an interaction with surrounding crystal lattice allows for conservation during electron-positron energy deuteron.
