Conduction band electrons in colloidal ZnO quantum dots have been prepared photochemically and examined by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. Nanocrystals of 4.6 nm diameter containing single $S$-shell conduction ${g}^{*}=1.962$ a room-temperature ensemble spin-dephasing time $T_{2}{}^{*}=25\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ns}$, as determined from linewidth analysis. Increasing the population leads to increased ${g}^{*}$ decreased $T_{2}{}^{*}$, both associated with formation $P$-shell...
We report the preparation and investigation of charged colloidal Co2+:ZnO Mn2+:ZnO nanocrystals. Although both magnetically doped semiconductor nanocrystals have been reported previously, as described herein not. Conduction band electrons were introduced into ZnO diluted magnetic (DMS) photochemically, resulting TM2+-e-CB interactions observed by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (TM2+ = Co2+ or Mn2+). This new motif reveals attractive opportunities for studying spin effects in...
All around the world, partnerships among schools and other youth-serving systems are promoting more comprehensive school-based mental health services. This article describes development of international networks for school (SMH) including International Alliance Child Adolescent Mental Health Schools (INTERCAMHS) recent School Leadership Exchange (SMHILE). In conjunction with World Conferences on Promotion, SMHILE has held pre-conference planning meetings identified five critical themes...
Colloidal ZnO nanocrystals capped with dodecylamine and dissolved in toluene can be charged photochemically to give stable solutions which electrons are present the conduction bands of nanocrystals. These conduction-band readily monitored by EPR spectroscopy, g* values that correlate nanocrystal sizes. Mixing a solution small (e−CB:ZnO−S) uncharged large (ZnO−L) caused changes spectrum indicative quantitative electron transfer from spectra reverse reaction, e−CB:ZnO−L + ZnO−S, showed do not...
This study drew on epidemiological data from a large urban school district to evaluate the implementation of school-based mental health (SBMH) prevention initiative at 15 high schools. The purpose this research was measure prevalence student risk factors and protective by race ethnicity assess engagement Asian youth in services. Results indicated statistically significant racial ethnic group differences (self-reported depressive symptoms, substance use, externalizing behavior school, failing...
Integrated healthcare delivered by work groups in nontraditional service settings is increasingly common, yet contemporary implementation frameworks typically assume a single organization—or organizational unit—within which system-level processes influence quality and success. Recent predict that inter-organizational alignment (i.e., similarity values, characteristics, activities related to across organizations) may facilitate the of evidence-based practices (EBP), but few studies have...
Additional unpaired electrons have been introduced into colloidal ZnO quantum dots (QDs) photochemically and investigated by experimental theoretical methods to test various possible descriptions of their wave functions. For n-type QDs with diameters between 3.0 7.0 nm, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy reveals size-dependent g* values in the range 1.960 < 1.968 that are temperature independent rule out highly localized function descriptions. The size dependence is described...
Epitaxial films of ${\text{Mn}}^{2+}$-doped ZnO were deposited by pulsed laser deposition on $\ensuremath{\alpha}{\text{-Al}}_{2}{\text{O}}_{3}(0001)$ using targets created from nanoparticles. Using x-ray absorption spectroscopy and magnetic circular dichroism, Mn(II) was found to substitute for Zn(II) in the w\"urtzite lattice with only a paramagnetic dichroic component Mn no either O or Zn. The dichroism reveals that, while substitutional, ${\text{Mn}}^{2+}$ distribution is not stochastic....
We use time-resolved Faraday rotation spectroscopy to probe the electron spin dynamics in ZnO and magnetically doped Zn(1-x)Co(x)O sol-gel thin films. In undoped ZnO, we observe an anomalous temperature dependence of ensemble dephasing time T(2), i.e., longer coherence times at higher temperatures, reaching T(2) ∼ 1.2 ns room temperature. Time-resolved transmission measurements suggest that this effect arises from hole trapping grain surfaces. Deliberate addition Co(2+) increases effective...
Evidence supports the utility of measurement-based care (MBC) to improve youth mental health outcomes, but clinicians rarely engage in MBC practices. Digital measurement feedback systems (MFS) may reflect a feasible strategy support adoption and sustainment. This pilot study was initiated evaluate impact MFS brief consultation facilitate uptake sustainment among education sector, most common service delivery setting for youth. Following an initial training MBC, 14 were randomized either...
Time-resolved Faraday rotation measurements in the ultraviolet have been performed to reveal ultrafast spin dynamics of electrons colloidal ZnO quantum dots. Oscillating signals are detected at frequencies corresponding an effective g factor = 1.96. Biexponential oscillation decay is observed that due (i) rapid depopulation fundamental exciton (tau 250 ps) and (ii) slow electron dephasing ( T 2 1.2 ns) within a metastable state formed by hole-trapping dot surface.
Collaborative care (CC) is an innovative approach to integrated mental health service delivery that focuses on reducing access barriers, improving quality and lowering expenditures. A large body of evidence supports the effectiveness CC models with adults and, increasingly, for youth. Although existing studies examining these youth have focused exclusively primary care, education sector also appropriate analogue accessibility offers adults. aligns closely practical realities may represent a...
Electron spin relaxation dynamics in colloidal ZnO quantum dots containing additional delocalized conduction band electrons (n-type) have been studied using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. Variation of the 67Zn (I = 5/2) nuclear isotope content within allows effects electron−nuclear hyperfine interaction on spin−spin and spin−lattice to be explored. Long room-temperature times T2 87 ns are observed almost completely depleted 67Zn.
This article examines whether school contextual factors, such as referral practices and peer dynamics, contribute to Chinese American students' underrepresentation in health programs.Data from the 2007 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (N = 1,744) well interviews focus groups 51) with users nonusers of high programs were analyzed identify aspects help-seeking process unique students.Chinese students primarily defined need for services having personal problems, engaging early sexual activity, or...
Three dimensional light confinement and distinct pillar microcavity modes in the ultraviolet have been observed resonators with embedded colloidal ZnO quantum dots fabricated by focused ion beam milling. Results from a waveguide model for mode patterns their spectral positions are excellent agreement experimental data.
Research suggests that youth involved the juvenile justice system have trauma histories are two times higher than general population. Juvenile justice-involved also high rates of mental health symptoms. Fewer studies examined how links to symptoms among offenders, and even less research focuses on status service delivery can impact their perceived likelihood for success. This study examines effects screening future criminal interactions— arrest incarceration—among adjudicated (n=7,073)...
