The reaction of the bisulfite ion with aldehydes to form charged adducts is a well-established method for purification aldehydes. This has been modified create convenient liquid–liquid extraction removal from mixtures. use water-miscible solvent allows occur during simple 30 s shaking protocol by increasing contact between and aldehyde. introduction an immiscible uncharged organic components away adduct. developed applicable wide range aldehydes, including sterically hindered neopentyl...
The use of hydrazine-catalyzed ring-closing carbonyl-olefin metathesis (RCCOM) to synthesize polycyclic heteroaromatic (PHA) compounds is described. In particular, substrates bearing Lewis basic functionalities such as pyridine rings and amines, which strongly inhibit acid catalyzed RCCOM reactions, are shown be compatible with this reaction. Using 5 mol% catalyst loadings, a variety PHA structures can synthesized from biaryl alkenyl aldehydes, themselves readily prepared by cross-coupling.
The ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of cyclopropenes using hydrazonium initiators is described. initiators, which are formed by the condensation 2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane and an aldehyde, polymerize cyclopropene monomers a sequence [3+2] cycloaddition cycloreversion reactions. This process generates short chain polyolefins (Mn ≤9.4 kg mol-1 ) with relatively low dispersities (Đ≤1.4). optimized conditions showed efficiency comparable to that achieved Grubbs' 2nd generation...
:With the advent of regular genetic bar coding for taxonomic distinction a decade ago, descriptions morphologically cryptic species have exploded in macroalgal literature. A review this literature is provided. Produced by either convergence morphological characteristics geographically distant or divergence from common ancestor, can often be distinguished subtle anatomical reproductive features. Some pairs, however, remain indistinguishable with overlapping even upon close inspection. Such...
A computational and experimental study has uncovered a second generation hydrazine that enables the catalytic ring-opening carbonyl–olefin metathesis of norbornenes.
Triarylmethyl cations serve as tunable organocatalysts for the synthesis of bisindolylmethanes. The catalyst structure can be modified to increase or decrease reactivity needed match requirements substrate. High yields are achieved a variety substrates by using these green catalysts. Catalyst tuning allows use less reactive electrophiles increasing catalyst. Acid-sensitive products isolated under mild reaction conditions.
