Flow of species and spatial continuity biological processes between geographically separated areas may be achieved using management tools known as Ecological Corridors (EC). In this paper we propose an EC composed three highly threatened coral reef systems in the Southwest Gulf Mexico: Sistema Arrecifal Lobos Tuxpan, Veracruzano Arrecifes de los Tuxtlas. The proposed is supported by concept Marine Protected Areas Networks, which highlights biogeographical habitat heterogeneity...
Incorporating expert knowledge for development spatialmodeling in assessing ecosystem services provided by coral reefs: A tool
Historical information was collected on vessel groundings in the Parque Nacional Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano (Veracruz Reef System National Park, PNSAV) during periods 1902–1945 and 1970–2010 to generate specific pressure indicators associated with these events. Information 126 gathered, cause, location, season, type of were analyzed. Three generated: stranding pressure, annual per site. The highest number occurred 1925 Anegada de Adentro reef, most impacted both periods. common causes...
