The alpha subunit of E. coli RNAP plays an important role in the recognition many promoters by binding to A+T-rich UP element, a DNA sequence located upstream elements for sigma subunit, -35 and -10 hexamers. We examined DNA-RNAP interactions using high resolution interference protection footprinting methods minor groove-binding drug distamycin. Our results suggest that interacts with bases groove backbone along groove, but element major surfaces do not make significant contribution binding....
Abstract Reaction of the tartrate‐derived diol ( R , )‐α,α,α′,α′‐tetraphenyl‐2,2‐dimethyl‐1,3‐dioxolane‐4,5‐dimethanol (TADDOL) with chlorodiphenylphosphane gives a new bis(diphenylphosphanyl) ligand (TADDOP). The complex 4 formed PdCl 2 has been crystallized and its structure determined by X‐ray diffraction Fig.1 ). is used for Pd‐catalyzed enantioselective 1,3‐diphenylallylations various nucleophiles which give products enantiomer ratios up to 88:12 Scheme Crystallization procedures lead...

Abstract The cellobiose‐derived dialkynes 14 and 15 were prepared by glycosidation of the acceptor 9 with thioglycosides 12 (82%) 13 (85%), respectively. was from known alcohol 2 via lactone 7 in five steps (48% overall), donors alkynylated anhydroglucose derivative 10 (60% overall). Acetolytic debenzylation (→ 16 17 , resp.) followed deacylation yielded 60% dialkyne 18 . Deacylation 19 ), methoxymethylation 20 ) trimethylgermylation led to orthogonally protected 21 (69% Protodesilylation K...
Abstract Efficient syntheses of three novel scaffolds for potential β‐glycosidase inhibitors were developed: The first consists a 2,7‐dioxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane derivative, which was prepared by an intramolecular ketalisation. second scaffold hydroxylated cyclopentylamine, could be synthesised stereoselectively from 2‐azabicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐5‐en‐3‐one. third scaffold, 4,5‐dihydroxynicotinic acid, accessible through sequence substituent directed ortho ‐lithiations. Selected compounds tested as...
Abstract The title triarylamine N , ‐bis(9,9‐dimethyl‐9 H ‐fluoren‐2‐yl)‐3′,3′,4′,7′‐tetramethyl‐2′,3′‐dihydrospiro[fluorene‐9,1′‐indene]‐2‐amine is a new hole transport material for organic solar cells. After investigating different discovery approaches ( Schemes 1 + 2 ), multi gram‐scale synthetic sequence was developed Scheme 4 ). key intermediate 2‐bromo‐9‐(2,5‐dimethylphenyl)‐9 ‐fluorene accessible from 2‐bromo‐9‐fluorenone by either the Grignard reaction, Et 3 SiH/BF reduction or...
The cellobiose-derived dimer 18, tetramer 48, and octamer 49 have been prepared. Acetolytic debenzylation transformed the 15, obtained from partially benzylated, dialkynylated cellobiose 2 (Scheme 1), into 16 that was deacetylated to 18 2), but analogous of 14 proved unsatisfactory. We, therefore, avoided benzyl groups prepared monomer 32 by glycosidation 27 with crystalline trichloroacetimidates 30 or 31 3). acceptor synthesised 1,6-anhydroglucose in 7 steps (48% overall yield), were good...
Abstract Die enantioselektive Synthese bleibt zentrales Thema in metallorganischen, metallfreien and bioorganischen Transformationen sowie der industriellen organischen Chemie. Trotz immer höheren Zahl an Testsubstanzen besteht medizinischen Chemie Engpass klinisch erfolgreichen Wirkstoffen.

A synthesis of novel bicyclic ketals galacturonic acid is described. The key cyclisation step was realised under acidic anhydrous conditions in very good yield. X-ray crystal structure analysis determined the correct regio- and stereochemistry.
