The yield of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ mesons from gamma rays on protons has been measured as a function center-of-mass angle for gamma-ray energies 170 Mev to 340 Mev. results are shown be consistent with model production predominantly through $J=\frac{3}{2}$, isotopic spin, $\frac{3}{2}$, state, which is resonant at about 300 energy. There evidence $S$-state and possibly electric quadrupole, $P$-wave the state.

The SeaQuest spectrometer at Fermilab was designed to detect oppositely-charged pairs of muons (dimuons) produced by interactions between a 120 GeV proton beam and liquid hydrogen, deuterium solid nuclear targets. primary physics program uses the Drell-Yan process probe antiquark distributions in target nucleon. consists system, two dipole magnets four detector stations. upstream magnet is closed-aperture iron which also serves as dump, while second an open aperture magnet. Each stations...

Abstract All experiments observing dilepton pairs (e.g. e + - , μ ) must confront the existence of a combinatoric background caused by combining tracks not arising from same physics vertex. Some method be devised to calculate and remove this background. In document we describe particular event-mixing relying on many unique aspects SeaQuest spectrometer data. The described here calculates with correct normalization; i.e., there is no need assign floating normalization factor that then...
