We have measured the differential cross section for two-body deuteron photodisintegration at ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}=90\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ and photon energies between 0.8 1.6 GeV. At above \ensuremath{\simeq} 1.2 GeV, data appear to obey a simple scaling law predicted by constituent-counting rules assuming parton degrees of freedom nucleons. Agreement with model calculations based on meson exchange or "reduced nuclear amplitudes" is discussed.

We describe a method to reliably pattern monolayers of iron nanoparticle (FeNP) colloids into submicron features for growth single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) by chemical vapor deposition. Our process results in very clean patterns that are readily imaged atomic force microscopy, which has allowed the observation size evolution before and after high-temperature nanotube growth. For our conditions, SWNTs grew only from nanoparticles smaller than ∼5 nm high. At high temperature 850 °C,...
