Abstract. High Hg levels in the pristine lacustrine ecosystems of Nahuel Huapi National Park, a protected zone situated Andes Northern Patagonia, Argentina, have initiated further investigations on cycling and source identification. Here we report records sedimentary sequences to identify atmospheric sources during past millennium. In addition global transport deposition, potential be considered is local emissions associated with volcanic activity, because Park Southern Volcanic Zone. Two...
Abstract Tephrochronology is a powerful tool for dating sedimentary sequences, especially in Patagonia, where large number of active volcanoes have produced frequent historical eruptions. Short lacustrine sequences were extracted from the lakes Moreno Oeste and Tonček (Nahuel Huapi National Park). Seventeen volcanic ash layers identified both cores, 210 Pb 137 Cs used techniques, records employed correlation. White pumice glass shards tephras characterised by measuring major trace element...
