This paper enables connectivity on everyday objects by transforming them into FM radio stations. To do this, we show for the first time that ambient signals can be used as a signal source backscatter communication. Our design creates transmissions decoded any receiver including those in cars and smartphones. us to achieve previously infeasible capability: backscattering information smartphones outdoor environments. key innovation is modulation technique transforms backscatter, which...

Carotid atherosclerosis, especially the rupture of unstable plaques, plays an important role in development stroke. A novel lipid ratio, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C)/high-density (HDL-C) contains both atherogenic and anti-atherogenic particle information, has been shown to be associated with carotid atherosclerosis. However, there is no data on evaluating association between non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio plaque stability.

With the rapid proliferation of camera-equipped smart devices (e.g., smartphones, pads, tablets), visible light communication (VLC) over screen-camera links emerges as a novel form near-field communication. Such via is highly competitive for its user-friendliness, security, and infrastructure-less (i.e., no dependency on WiFi or cellular infrastructure). However, existing approaches mostly focus improving transmission speed ignore reliability. Considering interplay between reliability...

Sensor networks with devices capable of moving could enable applications ranging from precision irrigation to environmental sensing. Using mechanical drones move sensors, however, severely limits operation time since flight is limited by the energy density current battery technology. We explore an alternative, biology-based solution: integrate sensing, computing and communication functionalities onto live flying insects create a mobile IoT platform. Such approach takes advantage these tiny,...

Abstract Organic materials exhibit efficient light absorption and low‐temperature, large‐scale processability, have stimulated enormous research efforts for next‐generation optoelectronics. While, high‐performance organic devices with fast speed high responsivity still face intractable challenges, due to their intrinsic limitations including finite carrier mobility exciton binding energy. Here an ultrafast highly sensitive broadband phototransistor is demonstrated by integrating high‐quality...
