Background The COVID-19 pandemic has proved deadly all over the globe; however, one of most lethal outbreaks occurred in Ecuador. Aims This study aims to highlight pandemic’s impact on affected countries worldwide terms excess deaths per capita and day. Methods An ecological all-cause mortality recorded Ecuador was performed. To calculate relative historical average for same dates 2017, 2018, 2019, we developed a bootstrap method based central tendency measure mean. A Poisson fitting...
Anthropometric measures have been classically used to understand the impact of environmental factors on living conditions individuals and populations. Most reference studies development growth in which anthropometric were carried out populations that are located at sea level, but there few high altitude populations. The objective this study was evaluate body composition autochthonous Kiwcha permanently low altitudes.A cross-sectional between genetically matched lowland from Limoncocha (n =...
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are rare gastrointestinal tract growths associated with high rates of malignant transformation. Most cases asymptomatic and can be identified by computed tomography scan. We present the case a 50-year-old male melena fatigue. Endoscopy showed an ulcerated submucosal tumor diagnosed as after surgical resection; it did not metastasis was successfully treated surgically without relapse.
Abstract Purpose In this study, we aim to determine the prognostic effects of genetic mutations identified in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method Gepia and cBioPortal were used assess TCGA data other PAAD studies. CBioPortal showed 2963 14 related Among these participants, 37 had a positive medical history mellitus, while 104 did not. Results Fifteen genes (HTRA3, FANCA, IL4R, NRXN2, GRPEL1, KIAA0232, TTK, WFS1, TBC1D14, CCDC96, USP25, STOML2,...
Abstract Background: Latin America is the most affected region by COVID-19 pandemic in terms of excessive mortality. Diagnostic and health care capabilities are limited this region, deficiencies resulting poor contact tracing, insufficient medical treatment an unprecedented number deaths. One key issues to estimate pandemic's actual impact track deaths as one reliable indicators when SARS-CoV-2 under-diagnosis evident. Objective: This study's objective was attributed based on excess...
Acute liver failure (ALF) is a rare condition that can have variable clinical course and potentially fatal outcomes. Medication toxicity known etiology, however induced by amiodarone has been reported mostly in the setting of intravenous (IV) infusion. We present an 84-year-old patient who developed ALF after chronic use oral amiodarone. The received supportive care her symptoms improved.
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has been deadly globally; however, the most lethal outbreak worldwide occurred in Ecuador. Our work aims to highlight pandemic's impact on affected countries due terms of excess deaths per capita and day. Methodology: An ecological study all-cause mortality recorded Ecuador during year 2020. To calculate total death relative historical average for same dates 2017, 2018 2019. A Poisson fitting analysis was used identify trends officially all-caused those...
