Little is known about the clinical outcomes of patients with human immunodeficiency virus infected SARS-CoV-2. We describe 47 referred to our hospital between 21 February and 16 April 2020 proven/probable COVID-19, 45 (96%) whom fully recovered 2 who died.

Objectives A prior T cell depletion induced by HIV infection may carry deleterious consequences in the current COVID‐19 pandemic. Clinical data on patients co‐infected with and SARS‐CoV‐2 are still scarce. Methods This multicentre cohort study evaluated risk factors for morbidity mortality of people living (PLWH), infected three countries different clinical settings. was clinically classified as to be mild‐to‐moderate or severe. Results Of 175 patients, 49 (28%) had severe 7 (4%) died....

Allogeneic immune responses are modulated by a subset of host T cells with regulatory function (Treg) contained within the CD4(+)CD25(high) subset. Evidence exists that Treg expand after peritransplantation lymphopenia, inhibit graft rejection, and induce maintain tolerance. Little, however, is known about role in clinical setting. IL-2 activation cell receptor engagement instrumental to generate Treg, but influence immunosuppressants on homeostasis humans vivo has not been investigated....

ABSTRACT Here, we describe the use of proactive therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) to individualize optimal timing injections in 16 adult patients with chronic osteoarticular infections receiving a median 7 dalbavancin (up 12 15 months). Dalbavancin were repeated at medians 39–47 days, infusion intervals ranging from 26 69 days. TDM can facilitates precise, targeted for requiring prolonged treatments.

ABSTRACT. The current therapy for chronic proteinuric nephropathies is angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi), which slow, but may not halt, the progression of disease, and be effective to same degree in all patients. In accelerated passive Heymann nephritis (PHN), this study assessed effect combining ACEi with angiotensin II receptor antagonist (AIIRA) statin that, besides lowering cholesterol, influences inflammatory fibrogenic processes. Uninephrectomized PHN rats were divided...

The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAS) is a widely known regulator of BP and determinant target organ damage. Angiotensin II, the main effector RAS, key mediator renal injury by increasing intraglomerular capillary pressure ultrafiltration plasma proteins promoting cell growth fibroproliferative effects. RAS blockade with inhibitors beneficial in slowing progressive loss function chronic kidney disease. Experimental evidence also indicates that aldosterone, besides being...

Insulin resistance, a key component of the metabolic syndrome, is risk factor for diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. Acetyl- l -carnitine infusion acutely ameliorated insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetics with resistance. In this sequential off-on-off pilot study, we prospectively evaluated effects 24-week oral acetyl- (1 g twice daily) therapy on glucose disposal rate (GDR), assessed by hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamps, components syndrome nondiabetic subjects at increased...

Background: Adequate antiretroviral exposure during pregnancy is critical to prevent the vertical transmission of HIV and for maternal health. Pregnancy can alter drug kinetics. We assessed pharmacokinetics atazanavir/ritonavir (300/100 mg a day) pregnancy. Methods: An intensive steady-state 24-h pharmacokinetic profile atazanavir was performed in third trimester postpartum. Maternal umbilical cord blood samples were obtained at delivery. measured by reverse-phase high-performance liquid...

Background. In kidney transplant recipients with alemtuzumab induction maintained on mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) immunosuppression, sirolimus (SRL) promotes significant expansion of circulating CD4+CD25high regulatory T cells (Treg). This might translate into more effective protection against chronic graft injury compared to cyclosporin A (CsA), which, in the same clinical setting, does not affect Treg. Methods. To assess this hypothesis, extension a single-center, prospective, randomized,...

The immunosuppressive agent mycophenolic acid (MPA) is metabolized by uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A9 (UGT1A9) to 7-O-glucuronide (MPAG) and excreted multidrug resistance-associated protein 2 in the bile. By contrast, production of acyl MPAG, a minor MPA metabolite, was ascribed UGT2B7 UGT1A8. Several polymorphisms genes encoding for UGT1A9, MRP2 proteins have been described. However, their functional role vivo on metabolism remains poorly defined.A total 40 Caucasian kidney...
