Ground lignocellulosic biomass (Miscanthus giganteus, pine (Pinus sylvestris) and willow (Salix viminalis)) was pretreated with ionic liquid–water mixtures of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium methyl sulfate hydrogen sulfate. A solid fraction enriched in cellulose recovered, which subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis. Up 90% the glucose 25% hemicellulose contained original were released by combined liquid pretreatment After pretreatment, liquor majority lignin hemicellulose. The portion partially...

The effect of the anion ionic liquids on air-dried pine (Pinus radiata) has been investigated. All used in this study contained 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium cation; anions were trifluoromethanesulfonate, methylsulfate, dimethylphosphate, dicyanamide, chloride and acetate. Using a protocol for assessing ability to swell small wood blocks (10 × 10 5 mm), it was shown that profound impact promote both swelling dissolution biomass. Time course studies showed viscosity, temperature water content...

Ethane is a product of lipid peroxidation and can be measured in the exhaled air as an index oxidative stress. Oxidant/antioxidant imbalance important pathogenesis chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Therefore, we ethane 22 patients with COPD (mean age ± SEM, 59 8 yr; 19 male) compared it other noninvasive markers stress inflammation such carbon monoxide (CO), electrochemically, nitric oxide (NO), by chemiluminescence. Exhaled was collected during flow pressure-controlled...

This study investigated pilot-scale production of xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS) and fermentable sugars from Miscanthus using steam explosion (SE) pretreatment. SE conditions (200 °C; 15 bar; 10 min) led to XOS yields up 52 % (w/w initial xylan) in the hydrolysate. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry demonstrated that solubilised contained bound acetyl- hydroxycinnamate residues, physicochemical properties known for high prebiotic effects anti-oxidant activity nutraceutical foods. Enzymatic...

ABSTRACT Guanethidine was used to induce adrenergic blockade in a patient with exophthalmic goitre. When postural fall of blood pressure attained large dose guanethidine, the abnormal tremor abolished, sleeping pulse rate fell and basal metabolic +20% normal. The addition methyl thiouracil caused return rate, body weight plasma cholesterol normal levels. alone or combination did not affect exophthalmos. Reasons are advanced for suggesting that thyroid hormone acts independently increased...

Pretreatment strategies are fundamental to effectively deconstruct lignocellulosic biomass and economically produce biofuels, biomaterials bio-based chemicals. This study evaluated individual combinatorial steam explosion (SE) ionic liquid (IL) pretreatments for production of high-value oligosaccharides from a novel seed-based Miscanthus hybrid (Mx2779). The two ILs used pretreatment were triethylammonium hydrogen sulphate [TEA][HSO4] 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate [C2mim][OAc]. results...

Ethane is produced from lipid peroxidation and can be measured in the exhaled air. Cystic fibrosis (CF) characterized by recurrent respiratory infections, release of reactive oxygen species inflammatory cells, increased oxidative stress.
