Twenty-seven alkyl analogs of lysophospholipid were synthesized and their structureantimicrobial activity relationships examined. These differed in the structures long-chain moiety at position 1 β-N-substituted aminoethylphosphoryl 3, presence or absence 2-methoxy group glycerol moiety. Many lysophospholipids found to possess antimicrobial activities much more potent than those naturally occuring lysolecithin lecithin against Tetrahymena pyriformis W a variety fungi, including human...

Various carbamate analogs of lysophospholipids, N-alkyl-and alkenylcarbamoyl phospholipids (ACPLs), were synthesized and their antimicrobial properties examined. The ACPLs studied differed in certain aspects chemical structure : the polar-head base, aliphatic nonpolar tail attached to nitrogen molecular backbone, e.g., 2-O-methylglycerol 1, 3-propanediol. In contrast lysolecithin lecithin, majority showed inhibitory activities against Tetrahymena pyriformis (protozoan) a range fungi. series...

Several semisynthetic maytansinoids that differ in the structure of acyl group at C3 position were prepared by acylation maytansinol (3) using appropriate carboxylic acids or their active derivatives, and effects compounds on growth Tetrahymena pyriformis survival tumor-bearing mice determined. Among these analogs, esters having a straight chain aliphatic (11, 12), cycloalkanecarbonyl (18-20) phenylacetyl (22), those 2-(N-acetyl-N-methyl) aminohexanoyl (7) (2-(N-acetyl-N-methyl)...

Dnacin B1 preferentially inhibited the incorporation of [3H]thymidine into acid-insoluble fractions in Escherichia coli. At a sublethal concentration, dnacin caused filamentous growth E. coli and induced prophage lambda. The antibiotic also showed potent bactericidal activity against repair-deficient strains, such as recA, recB, polA In vitro studies, Ba raised melting temperatures various double-stranded DNAs. addition, DNA-cleaving PM2 DNA presence reducing agents, was suppressed by...

Ansamitocins inhibited cilia regeneration of partially deciliated Tetrahymena pyriformis W, and the activity depended on acyl groups at C3 position.

GDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase activity was found to be widely distributed in Streptomyces. Streptomyces olivaceus IFO 3409 showed the highest among strains tested. When air-dried cells of (100 mg/ml) were incubated with GTP(NH4)3 (20 µmoles/ml), D-glucose-l-phosphate potassium phosphate buffer, pH 7.0 (270 µmoles/ml) and MgS04 synthesized 25% yield against GTP. isolated identified. The capable synthesizing higher searched. sp. AKU 2801 seems most suitable strain for preparation GDP-glucose.
