Antibody (IgG) responses to salivary gland homogenate and a recombinant protein from the sand fly Lutzomyia longipalpis were investigated using sera children living in an endemic area of visceral leishmaniasis Brazil. We classified into four groups according their Leishmania antigen: (Group I) positive serology delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), II) negative DTH, III) IV) DTH. A highly significant correlation was found between anti-salivary IgG levels DTH responses. An L. used as antigen...

The C2-hydroxyglycosylation reaction employing the reagent combination of a diaryl sulfoxide and triflic anhydride offers novel method for glycal assembly whereby hydroxyl functionality is stereoselectively installed at C2-position donor with concomitant glycosylation nucleophilic acceptor. Mechanistic investigations into this revealed process sulfonium-mediated oxidation enol ethers in which oxygen atom transferred to glycal. 18O-labeling studies that S-to-C2 oxygen-transfer involves...

Abstract Fast reactions of diethyl fumarate anion radical (DEF−) and fluorenone (Fl−) with various organic halides (RX) in hexamethylphosphoric triamide have been studied by means ns pulse radiolysis at room temperature. Reactions acetophenone were also for comparison. It was found that the reaction rate Fl− subject to steric resonance effects R groups RX accord classical concept SN2 reactions: constant reduced 2 orders magnitude effect when changed from ethyl bulky isopropyl or t-butyl, it...

Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are fundamentally important and challenging drug targets. Peptidomimetic molecules of various types have been developed to modulate PPIs. A particularly promising discovery strategy, structural peptidomimetics, was designed based on special mimicking side-chain Cα-Cβ bonds. It is simple versatile. Nevertheless, no quantitative method has established evaluate its similarity a target peptide motif. We two methods that enable visual, comprehensive, analysis...

Currently, various pharmaceutical modalities are being developed rapidly. Targeting protein-protein interactions (PPIs) is an important objective in such development. Cyclic peptides, because they have good specificity and activity, been attracting much attention as alternative to antibody drugs.
