Catalytic gasification of bamboo in a laboratory-scale, fluidized bed reactor was investigated. Experiments were performed to determine the effects temperature (400, 500, and 600°C), gasifying medium (air air/steam), catalyst biomass ratio (0 : 1, 1 1.5 1) on product gas composition, H 2 /CO ratio, carbon conversion efficiency, heating value, tar conversion. From results obtained, it shown that at 400°C with air/steam gasification, maximum hydrogen content 16.5% v/v, efficiency 98.5%, 80%...
Corn residues are abundantly available, but utilizing this potential biomass energy source is limited by their low density and non-uniform physical characteristics. Densification may be used to solve problem. Many studies have high temperature pressure compress materials into pellets, as well expensive additives produce high-quality pellets. In study, we investigated whether moderate with a binding agent from an inexpensive environmentally friendly offers alternative solution. We locally...
Abstract In northern Thailand, there are a great amount of agricultural residues generated after the harvest, most which burned as means disposal, affecting soil for agriculture, wild animals, well causing air pollution. One solutions that may be beneficial in terms carbon credit is to turn these into biochar using slow pyrolysis. Biochar widely accepted biologically derived matter with ability contain carbon, large nutrients, adding biodiversity soils. The attribute varied depending on its...

This research aimed to study the potential of agricultural materials as fuel briquettes and factors affecting briquette properties. The study's results may be utilized recommendations for manufacture from wastes converted alternative energy. Briquette production can increase income farmers reduce waste burning. used in this were rice husks tobacco stalks. effects biomass types densification conditions on density, moisture content, durability, compressive resistance, lower heating value...
Abstract The conventional kilns were used for biochar production, but it took more than 7-9 hours processing, and its process temperature was not uniform because some of the material could be converted into lots heat source input resulting in low production efficiency. Then objective this research to improve by using modified kiln reducing distribution. A 50-liter with a core needed research. This heating pyrolysis process. came from combustion biomass. pipe puncture diameter releasing...
Abstract Biochar has been known to be an excellent soil amendment. However, the biochar yield and its quality are both affected by process parameter, such as temperature heating time, production method from kiln type used. Therefore, objective of this work was characterize thermal distribution inside 50-liter at different times production. The experiments on with a dimension 500 mm × 380 (height diameter) including fuel core diameter 115 5 rows 6.35 drill puncture diameters were conducted....
Abstract Most of the agricultural residues have low density resulting in increasing cost storage and transportation. With reduced volume by compacting process, other properties are increased while transportation space can be reduced. The effects screw characteristics on briquette qualities were measured. process condition for producing fuel briquettes with extruders used as renewable energy industry. Rice husk was collected its moisture content around 8-12%. A feeding a length 45 centimeters...
Abstract Waste heat from the combustion process that is left unused may cause pollution problems and adversely affect health. This waste should be recovered. In this research, simulation experimental data on transfer characteristics of pipe coiled inside re-burning kiln exchanger were studied. The main objective study was to compare coefficients obtained using water as working fluid with those experimentally for drying system. coil-pipe-type an outside diameter 38 mm. set up 80 cm in width...
Abstract In this research, heat transfer simulation is a part of the application from biochar production process for drying system. This research aimed to investigate three-dimensional transient conditions used predict exchangers comparing with experimental study. The working fluid inside tube was hot water mass flow rate 10 LPM. results obtained and experiment analysis were cold air through exchangers. temperatures inlet exchanger set as 50, 60, 70, 80 °C, respectively. Air flowed 1 m/s, 2...
The present study reports on an investigation of teak sawdust pyrolysis oil blended with commercial diesel in a small four-stroke compression ignited engine. engine performance and emissions were evaluated. was obtained from single-stage fixed bed reactor at 600 °C. Its physicochemical properties characterized found to be acceptable for the Teak blends ratios 10%, 25%, 50% by mass utilized. tested constant speeds 800 2600 r/min. 25% blend 2000 r/min have better brake thermal efficiency lower...
This study was about biochar production from agricultural waste by calcination and pyrolysis in a concentric cylindrical kiln. Three biomass types were studied: corn cob, rice husks, longan peels. The kiln of 50-L capacity externally heated 15 kW electric heater. Two heating modes operation tested, one with single stage the other two stages. Temperature distribution inside found to be better controlled than traditional charcoal kilns. From process, corncob yield two- higher single-stage At...
