Ganoderma lucidum extract (GLE) is a potent ancient Asian remedy for the treatment of various diseases. This study investigated GLE preventive effects on LPS-stimulated inflammation BV-2 microglial cells. The results show that pre-treatment with decreased expression pro-inflammatory cytokines: G-CSF, IL1-α, MCP-5, MIP3α, and, higher effect in MIP3α. In RT-PCR assays, mRNA CHUK, NFκB1/p150, and IKBKE (NFƙB signaling), which may be associated neuropathology Alzheimer's disease. data inhibiting...

Although aromatase inhibitors are standard endocrine therapy for postmenopausal women with early-stage metastatic estrogen-dependent breast cancer, they limited by the development of drug resistance. A better understanding this process is critical towards designing novel strategies disease management. Previously, we demonstrated a global proteomic signature letrozole-resistance associated hormone-independence, enhanced cell motility and implications epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT)....

The lack of hormone receptors in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is associated with the inefficacy anti‑estrogen chemotherapies, leaving fewer options for patient treatment and higher mortality rates. Additionally, as numerous types inflammatory cancer, infiltration tumor macrophages other leukocyte sub‑populations within inevitably lead to aggressive, chemo‑resistant, metastatic invasive which escape immune surveillance. These processes are orchestrated by release potent cytokines,...

Abstract Exposure to lead (Pb) interferes with neurodevelopment and disturbs ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity. ODC the key regulatory enzyme of polyamine pathway, is a potential substrate for protein kinase C (PKC). Therefore, we examined developmental changes in PKC activity its relationship Male rats were lactationally exposed 0.2% Pb‐acetate from birth weaning. measured on postnatal days (PND) 3, 5, 10, 20 30. We found that basal patterns activities resembled each other both...

Breast cancer is the second most lethal form of among American women, presenting strong evidence health disparities between Whites and African Americans. Triple-negative breast (TNBC), in particular, aggressive subtype, affecting women more aggressively. Several mushrooms have been shown to nutritional value contain bioactive compounds with a diversity medicinal properties. The current study investigated effects Ganoderma lucidum, mushroom that has used across Asia as nutraceutical herbal...

Physicians do not receive formal environmental health training in medical schools. The objectives of this study were to provide care providers with basic medicine better advise, treat or refer patients the community and observe any differences learning gains pre/post- test assessment. To rectify problem lack physicians’ related hazards, we conducted an workshop which targeted physicians living near Health Zone 1, Superfund ash sites. Fifty from both St. Vincent Family Medicine Department...

Neurodegenerative diseases have increased significantly over the last five years, and increase in elderly with Alzheimer’s dementia requires attention research design to combat this critical problem. Ganoderma Lucidum extract (GLE) is a potent ancient Asian remedy for extending life treatment of variety disease states. In current study, we investigate neuroprotective potential effects on LPS‐activated BV‐2 microglial cells. The LPS activated cells been largely used as model illustrate...

This investigation demonstrates how a human population can be exposed to public drinking water supply contaminated by compound‐specific intermedia transport event. Late in January 2000, customers of medium‐sized utility Duval County, Florida, complained the that their smelled like “PVC glue,” “bug spray,” “paint remover,” “insecticide,” and “pesticide.” The followed produced surprising results: was ethylbenzene vapors transmitted through aeration tower an online ground storage tank.
