The adhesives used for applications in marine environments are subject to particular chemical conditions, which mainly characterised by an elevated chlorine ion content and intermittent wetting/drying cycles, among others. These conditions can limit the use of due degradation processes that they experience. In this work, two different polymers, polyurethane vinylester, was studied natural seawater under immersion periods time. diffusion coefficients concentration profiles water throughout...

Molecular simulation is becoming a very powerful tool for studying dynamic phenomena in materials. The yields information about interaction at length and time scales unattainable by experimental measurements unpredictable continuum theories. This especially meaningful when referring to bonding between polymer metal substrate. A important characteristic of polymers that their physical properties do not rely on the detailed chemical structure molecular chains but only flexibility, accordingly...

ABSTRACT Fibre–metal hybrid laminates combine layers of metal with made composites – polymeric matrix reinforced glass‐fibre woven fabric. Interface behaviour plays a fundamental role in the overall properties material, especially failure mode by debonding buckling outermost layer. A proper measurement adhesive fracture energy is required so as to avoid this early mechanism during bending. Tapered double cantilever beam test and dissimilar mixed‐mode bending have been used obtaining I II...
