Over a century ago, Virchow proposed that cancer represents chronically inflamed, poorly healing wound. Normal wound is represented by transitory phase of inflammation, followed pro-resolution phase, with prostaglandin (PGE2/PGD2)-induced 'lipid class switching' producing inflammation-quenching lipoxins (LXA4, LXB4).
In 2018, we described a robotic natural orifice-assisted left-sided colorectal resection with intracorporeal anastomosis and transrectal extraction of the specimen termed it orifice procedure. CASE SUMMARY: A 62-year-old woman presents for her first screening colonoscopy as recommended by primary care physician after an initial health maintenance examination to establish care. 1-cm sessile polyp was found in the cecum during colonoscopy, which resected using hot snare polypectomy. After appropriate postprocedure recovery, patient sent home and presented 12 hours later emergency department with severe abdominal pain.
