Evidence that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in DNA repair is accumulating, however, whether they can control pathway choice unknown. Here we show the small Cajal body-specific RNA 2 (scaRNA2) promote HR by inhibiting DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) and, thereby, NHEJ. By binding to catalytic subunit of DNA-PK (DNA-PKcs), scaRNA2 weakens its interaction with Ku70/80 subunits, as well LINP1 lncRNA, thereby preventing activation enzyme. Inhibition stimulates end resection...
The early clinical trials using fetal ventral mesencephalic (VM) allografts in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients have shown efficacy (albeit not all cases) and paved the way for further development of cell replacement therapy strategies PD. preclinical work that led to these used VM tissue placed into 6-OHDA lesioned rats, while received similar under cover immunosuppression an α-synuclein state. Thus developing models more faithfully replicate scenario would be a useful tool translation...
Abstract Approximately half of all cases Hoyeraal–Hreidarsson syndrome (HHS), a multisystem disorder characterized by bone marrow failure, developmental defects and very short telomeres, are caused germline mutations in genes related to telomere biology. However, the varying symptoms severity disease indicate that additional mechanisms involved. Here, 3-year-old boy with HHS was found carry biallelic WRAP53 (WD40 encoding RNA antisense p53), altered two highly conserved amino acids (L283F...
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools have already shown great promise in improving the workflows of key tasks and processes within medical writing, freeing up time for us humans to focus on those unique abilities AI cannot replace…yet. At top list are critical thinking, analytical skills, emotional intelligence, creativity. More than that, we can harness collaborate multidisciplinary, international teams create innovative apt solutions – an integral part our daily work as writers, particularly...
