Within the framework of national Geological Mapping Project at 1:50.000 scale (CARG), since late 1980s Survey Italy (GSI) financed realization 55 sheets where volcanic deposits are present with various extensions. The main areas interested by 1:10.000 surveys active districts Etna, Vesuvius, Phlegrean Fields and Ischia island, as well those Pleistocene volcanism.
