Williams-Beuren syndrome is the consequence of a large contiguous-gene deletion on seventh human chromosome that includes elastin gene. Elastin an extracellular matrix protein responsible for cardiovascular abnormalities associated with Williams's syndrome, including hypertension and aortic stenosis.
