Previously published and as yet unpublished QCD results obtained with the ALEPH detector at LEP1 are presented. The unprecedented statistics allows detailed studies of both perturbative non-perturbative aspects strong interactions to be carried out using hadronic Z tau decays. presented include precise determinations coupling constant, tests its flavour independence, SU(3) gauge structure QCD, study coherence effects, measurements single-particle inclusive distributions two-particle...

Recent developments enable to deliver rotational IMRT with standard C-arm gantry based linear accelerators. This upcoming treatment technique was benchmarked in a multi-center planning study against static and on ring for complex parotid gland sparing head-and-neck technique. Treatment plans were created 10 patients tumours (oropharynx, hypopharynx, larynx) using the following systems (TPS) IMRT: Monaco (ELEKTA VMAT solution), Eclipse (Varian RapidArc solution) HiArt helical tomotherapy...

Two samples of exclusive semileptonic decays, 579 B0 →D∗+ℓ−νℓ events and 261 → D+ℓ−νℓ events, are selected from approximately 3.9 million hadronic Z decays collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP. From reconstructed differential decay rate each sample, product form factor F(ω) zero recoil D(∗)+ meson CKM matrix element |Vcb| measured to be FD∗+(1)|Vcb| = (31.9 ± 1.8stat 1.9syst) × 10−3, FD+(1)|Vcb| (27.8 6.8stat 6.5syst) 10−3. The ratio factors FD+(1) FD∗+(1) is FD+(1)FD∗+(1) 0.87 0.22stat...

Globally, new cancer cases will rise by 57% within the next two decades, with majority in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Consequently, a steep increase of about 40% deaths is expected there, mainly because lack treatment facilities, especially radiotherapy. Radiotherapy required for more than 50% patients, but capital cost equipment often deters establishment such facilities LMICs. Presently, 139 LMICs, 55 do not even have radiotherapy facility, whereas remaining 84 deficit 61.4%...

The total cross section and the forward-backward asymmetry for process e+e− → μ+μ−(nγ) are measured in energy range 20–136 GeV by reconstructing effective centre-of-mass after initial state radiation. analysis is based on data recorded with ALEPH detector at LEP between 1990 1995, corresponding to a integrated luminosity of 143.5 pb−1. Two different approaches used: first one an exclusive selection events hard radiation 20–88 directly compared Standard Model predictions showing good...

A kinetic bio-mathematical, linear-quadratic (LQ) based model description for clonogenic survival is presented. In contrast to widely used formulations of models, a dynamic approach on ordinary differential equations coupling repair with tumour growth allow analysis intercellular process dynamics and submodel interference. Synchrotron radiation photons and off-energy electrons which contribute to backgrounds in the LEP experiments have been simulated. A multi-faceted background protection system has designed installed permits take data under very clean conditions. The measured at LEP1 are good agreement with calculations. Simulations studies led a design of enhanced for LEP2 where far more severe photon is expected. Detector sensitivity monitor systems described.

The reaction e+e− → HZ is used to search for the Standard Model Higgs boson. data sample consists of integrated luminosities 10.9 pb−1, 1.1 and 9.5 pb−1 collected by ALEPH experiment at LEP during 1996, centre-of-mass energies 161, 170 172 GeV, respectively. No candidate events were found, in agreement with expected background 0.84 from all processes. This results a 95% C.L. lower limit on boson mass 69.4 GeV/c2. When combined earlier searches performed around Z peak, this increases 70.7

The inclusive production of charmed particles in Z → bb decays has been measured from the yield D0, D+, Ds+ and Λc+ a sample qq events with high b purity collected ALEPH detector 1992 to 1995. From these measurements, adding charmonia rate an estimate strange baryon contribution, average number charm quarks per decay is determined be nc = 1.230 ± 0.036 0.038 0.053, where uncertainties are due statistics, systematic effects branching ratios, respectively.
