AbstractWe recorded, for the first time, byssal hairs in Asian freshwater bivalve Limnoperna fortunei from Paraná River system. We analysed presence of and their distribution on shell relation to habitat size 12 sites. Hairs were present lentic habitats associated with macrophytes or organic matter, but absent lotic environments. The proportion mussels was negatively correlated current velocity. more frequent abundant larger mussels. In general, are a similar length over almost entirely...

The flood pulse regime and the hydrological connectivity determine lateral bidirectional exchanges of water, chemical compounds, biota between river floodplain habitats. primary goal present research was to analyze effect water flow on macroinvertebrates in two levels a gradient, from main channel through connection permanently connected lake. We tested hypothesis that habitats during high level causes decrease beta diversity sites, increasing similarity system. To test this hypothesis, we...

The diversity of chironomid larvae in relation to flooding and drought phases a marginal fluvial wetland the Middle Paraná River floodplain was analyzed. Four sampling stations right bank Tiradero Viejo towards interior were established: one at riverside, three more 10, 30 40 m from river. Bottom sediment samples extracted during hydrosedimentological cycle 2001. A total 25 taxa Chironomidae recorded. values taxonomic richness, density higher than increasing when is disconnecting Polypedilum...

Studies of the relationships between temporal variation biological phenomena and environmental factors are essential to understanding dynamics communities. Phenology is a structuring element and, together with voltinism, related timing reproductive activities. The aim this study ascertain structure composition Chironomid assemblage its emergence patterns in relation variables through use pupal exuviae technique using Neotropical streams as model. presented similar species compositions....

Abstract Background Although cnidarians are mostly marine organisms, the occurrence of freshwater jellyfish frequently arouses interest ecologists, due to their sudden and unusual appearances in natural artificial water bodies around world. Methods This study describes a series cases compatible with cnidarian envenomation that occurred coincidentally time space presence Craspedacusta sowerbii Lankester, 1880 province Misiones (El Saltito stream) January 2022. A year later, its was confirmed...
