We analyse long-slit spectra of four early-type galaxies which extend from ∼1 to 3 effective radii: IC 1459; 3370; NGC 3379 and 4105. have extracted the full line-of-sight velocity distribution (in case we also used data literature), model using two-integral approach. Using modelling, find no strong evidence for dark haloes, but fits suggest that three-integral modelling is necessary. inferred constant mass-to-light ratio in all cases typical galaxies. Finally, discuss constraints on ratio,...

(abridged) Context. Gravitational fields at the outskirts of early-type galaxies (ETGs) are difficult to constrain observationally. It thus remains poorly explored how well LCDM and MOND hypotheses agree with ETGs. Aims. This led us gather a large sample ETGs examine homogeneously which dark matter halos they occupy, whether follow theoretically predicted stellar-to-halo mass relation (SHMR) halo mass-concentration (HMCR), obey radial acceleration (RAR) observed for late-type (LTGs), finally...

Abstract To understand the origin of extended disks low-surface brightness (LSB) galaxies, we studied in detail four such systems with large seen edge on. Two them are edge-on giant LSB galaxies (gLSBGs) recently identified by our team. The orientation these boosts their surface brightnesses that provided an opportunity to characterize stellar populations spectroscopically and yielded first measurements for gLSBGs.
