Abstract Previous studies have reported low self-esteem contributes to depressive symptoms among adolescents, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. The present study aimed examine mediating roles of hope and anxiety in relationship between symptoms. 431 adolescents 13 18 years volunteered complete a battery questionnaires that included measures on variables mentioned above. Results found or mediated association female adolescents’ depression, while only male depression. Our findings...

This study investigated whether honesty is a stable trait or varies depending on situational factors. Using coin flip guessing paradigm with monetary rewards, 33 participants completed trials rewards ranging from 0.01 to 3 yuan. Modeling of behavioral data showed individuals have varying "honesty thresholds" where they switch honest dishonest behavior. EEG analysis revealed increased P300 amplitude when resisting greater temptation, and higher thresholds had lower amplitudes for the same...

Abstract High‐density polyethylene (HDPE) films were ozonated in the gas phase and distilled water, respectively, to improve their surface hydrophilicity. The efficiency of ozonation conducted gaseous aqueous phases was compared. results indicated that more effective than its counterpart terms peroxide generation. also showed concentration peroxides generated on film surfaces increased with applied ozone dose time both phases. It found by accessible monomers for graft polymerization....

Background Impairment of interference control ability may reflect a more general deficit in executive functioning, and lead to an increase internal-externalized problems such as impulsivity, which has been reported deaf children. However, few researches have examined the neural mechanism this impairment. Methods This study applied electroencephalogram (EEG) technique investigate 31 children 28 hearing controls with emotional face-word stroop task. Results from behavioral task showed that...

Abstract In this article, a series of poly(ether ester) bioelastomers, poly(PEG‐co‐CA)s (PECs), were synthesized by the melt polycondensation citric acid (CA) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with molecular weights 150, 200, 300, 400. The measurements mechanical properties PEC testified that these polymers elastomers low hardness high elongation, hydrolytic degradation polymer films in buffer pH 7.4 at 37°C showed PECs had excellent degradability. weight PEG strong influence on rates, water...

Children orphaned by HIV/AIDS ("AIDS orphans") suffer numerous early-life adverse events which have a long-lasting effect on brain function. Although previous studies found altered electroencephalography (EEG) oscillation during resting state in children HIV/AIDS, data are limited regarding the alterations connectivity and microstate. The current study aimed to investigate functional (FC) microstate with resting-state EEG data. Data were recorded from 63 65 non-orphan controls close-eyes...

A large body of literature has established that children orphaned by HIV/AIDS ('AIDS orphans') face numerous challenges, such as parental death, poverty, disrupted school attendance and stigma. All these early life adversities can have long-lasting effects on brain function, especially the executive functions. Working memory, one most studied aspects functions, is also reported to be impaired in with adversity. However, limited data are available regarding how adverse events affect neural...
