A pressure-induced linkage isomerization of the cyanide anion has been observed in single crystals a chromium(III)-iron(II) Prussian blue analogue formula K0.4Fe4[Cr(CN)6]2.8 square1.2.16H2O (1). Upon application pressure 0-1200 MPa range, ligand rotates and becomes C-bonded to iron(II) cations, leading stabilization their diamagnetic low-spin states. The result is decrease magnetization magnetic ordering temperatures from TC = 19 K at ambient 13 1200 MPa. initial properties can be restored...

Abstract Barocaloric cooling, that is, lowering the temperature of a material under pressure action, is an attractive solid‐state effect can potentially compete with volatile gas‐based cooling. To observe barocaloric (BCE), it necessary for materials to have high‐entropy, low‐hysteretic phase transitions large volume change between phases. Spin-crossover (SCO) complexes based on three-dimensional coordination polymers (see Figure) exhibit unprecedented pressure-tunable thermal and piezochromic bistability at room temperature. The thermal- piezohysteresis loops of the material can be tuned, providing a step towards reliable pressure-based memory systems or displays.
