We have previously isolated a human gene from an endothelial cell cDNA library encoding putative tyrosine kinase; we designated this the fms-like (FLG). To analyze product(s) of FLG, generated rabbit polyclonal antibodies directed against synthetic peptide FLG and used it to immunoprecipitate biosynthetically labeled protein variety lines. These specifically recognized glycoprotein(s) 100, 120, 135 kDa with cores 90 110 kDa. Acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF) stimulated kinase activity...

Abstract: Because of concern about the safety immune globulins prepared for injection, we studied effects ethanol fractionation human plasma on lymphotropic virus, type III, (HTLV‐III) by spiking products various stops with HTLV‐III. Tests inactivation and removal indicated that ratio residual live virus in fractions/live starting was 1 × 10 ‐15 precipitate II from which globulin injection is manufactured. The results are reassuring regarding potential globulin.

Abstract Monocytes are major targets of HIV infection in patients with AIDS. In vitro monocytes is associated increased expression beta 2 integrins, which increases both monocyte aggregation and monocyte/endothelial adhesion as well metalloproteinase (MMP-9) expression. Treatment primary soluble HIV-Tat protein mimicked many the properties monocytes. Tat treatment up-regulated was formation large aggregates to endothelial monolayers. their untreated TNF-alpha-treated monolayers, inhibited by...

Transfusion-transmitted infections have been documented for several arboviruses, including West Nile and dengue viruses (1). Zika virus, a flavivirus transmitted primarily by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that has identified as cause of congenital microcephaly other serious brain defects (2), became recognized potential threat to blood safety after reports from 2013-2014 outbreak in French Polynesia. Blood concerns were based on very high infection incidence the population at large during...

Abstract Treatment of primary monocytes with soluble HIV-Tat protein is associated increased monocyte metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) expression and enhanced beta 2 integrin that increases monocyte/endothelial adhesion. These alterations require greater than 12 h treatment, suggesting the involvement intermediate factors. Thus, we have examined role cytokines in HIV-Tat-induced alteration function. rapidly up-regulated production IL-1 beta, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-alpha, but not IL-3,...
