Abstract A series of activated biochar (KBBC-700, KBBC-800 and KBBC-900) which were modified by KOH pyrolysis at various temperatures from ball-milling bamboo powder obtained. The physicochemical properties pore structures investigated scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectoscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) N 2 adsorption/desorption. adsorption performance for the removal methylene blue (MB) was deeply studied. results showed that KBBC-900 obtained...

This work is focused on the modification of insoluble dietary fiber from pomelo (Citrus grandis) peel (PP-IDF) by ball milling. Ball milling intensified water and oil holding capacity swelling 43.7%, 65.1%, 107.5%, respectively. Besides, 97.1% taurocholic acid, 45.3% glucose, 9.3 μg/mg NO2− were bound milled fibers (IDFs). The oil-in-water Pickering emulsions successfully emulsified ball-milled PP-IDFs. PP-IDF for 2.0 hr (PP-IDF-BM2h) exhibited higher stability after storage owing to its...

Pear fruits have been reported to contain abundant bioactive compounds and exhibit antidiabetic activity. In this study, Pingguoli pear (Pyrus pyrifolia cv.'Pingguoli') fermentation broth was sequentially extracted by five solvents with increasing polarity (petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, water) evaluate its antioxidant hypothermic activities, then the main of fraction highest activity were assessed, which might be responsible for such activities. The results showed...

The bamboo leaf ultrafine powders were obtained by ball milling. physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of different particle sizes studied. results showed that the smaller distribution granule diameter, lower flowability density, but higher dissolvability. When smallest size, was when powder milling 5 hr, content polysaccharides, proteins, total phenols, flavonoids than other powders. According to scanning electron microscopy (SEM), surface pretreated superfine pulverizing...

Bamboo culm contains abundant hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin, which was a high-quality insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) raw material. In this paper, the effects of alkaline hydrogen peroxide (AHP) enzymatic hydrolysis on physicochemical functional bamboo IDF (named BIDF OIDF, respectively) were reported. SEM, FT-IR, XRD analysis suggested that both OIDF had groups cellulose crystal structure cellulose. AHP treatment effectively improved water-holding capacity (WHC), water swelling (SC),...

Heteropolysaccharides were extracted from Phellinus baumii using hot water assisted by phosphotungstic acid, and their physicochemical properties structures analyzed. Two isolated components (SPB SPC) composed of fucose, galactose, glucose mannose, with molecule weight 12.6 kDa 9.4 kDa, respectively. Structural analysis showed that →6)-Galp-(1→ →4)-Glcp-(1→ the main 2D structural fragments in SPB, while →6)-Glcp-(1→ predominated SPC. After 48 h vitro fermentation human fecal inoculum,...

In this work, we exploited an efficient method to release hemicellulosic polysaccharides (BLHP) from bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens Mazel) leaves assisted by a small amount of phosphotungstic acid. Structural unit analysis proved that BLHP-A1 and BLHP-B1 samples possessed abundant low-branch chains in →4)-β-D-Xylp-(1→ skeleton mainly consisting Xylp, Manp, Glcp, Galp, Araf residues. According the results antioxidant activity assays vitro, both two fractions demonstrated for scavenging DPPH⋅...

The direct hydrogenolysis of cellulose on bimetallic catalysts represented a promising route for polyols' production. development catalyst system that could control the promotion selectivity polyols conversion into was highly desirable. In this work, we realized production ethylene glycol (EG) and 1,2-propylene (1,2-PG) by adopting nano-Sn species with different valences in combination Ni catalysts, were prepared incipient-wetness impregnation method. 10%Ni–15%Sn/SBA-15 achieved highest...

Summary In this study, crude polysaccharide (BSSP) was extracted from bamboo ( Phyllostachys edulis ) shoot shell using the ultrasonic‐assisted phosphotungstic acid hydrolysis method. Then, BSSP further fractionated by DEAE Sepharose fast flow column and serial NaCl solution elutions to obtain two fractions, BSSP‐A BSSP‐B. The results showed that maximum yield of 195.2 mg g −1 (19.52%) under optimised conditions. Structural analysis indicated both BSSP‐B were heteropolysaccharides with...
