The lithium market has been expanding due to the high demand for lithium-ion batteries, which are essential electric and hybrid vehicles as well portable devices. This driven search new ore deposits development of more efficient extraction processing technologies. main methods used from hard rock ores include acid process, alkaline chlorination roasting. study investigated a process applied α-spodumene extracted in Brazil chloride (LiCl) production. underwent thermal treatment presence...

Abstract In the industrial production of aluminum through Bayer process, two main pollutants are generated, red mud and carbon dioxide (CO2). Conventional processes for treating polluting waste include neutralization with hydrochloric acid (HCl) capture CO2 ethanolamine (CH2(NH2)CH2OH). However, generated can be used to neutralize mud, allowing simultaneous treatment harmful substances reducing amount HCl required mud. The solvent present in is residual alkaline liquor from which absorbs a...

Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a crystalline and linear biopolymer that biodegradable biocompatible. However, due to its high crystallinity, PHB rigid brittle, limiting applications. The brittleness of can be reduced by incorporating reinforcing fillers. In this context, study aimed produce composites based on matrix mica, as filler. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed the lamellar structure mica within matrix. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed characteristic...

Composites based on recycled high-density polyethylene (rHDPE) and muscovite mica, with different rHDE/mica ratios (100/0, 95/5, 90/10, 85/15 80/20, weight percentage) were prepared in an internal mixer roller-type rotors at temperature of 170 ºC for 10 minutes. The materials obtained characterized by tests density, Shore hardness D melt-flow index, along infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry electron microscopy. analysis confirmed the action mica as a...

In this work muscovite was ultrasonically treated to obtain composites with post-industrial wood plastic residues. The ultrasonicated for 30 or 60 min and mixed the polymeric matrix at a constant level of 15% (weight percentage). were prepared in single-screw extruder formed into flat films characterization. SEM images revealed occurrence delamination, while particle size distribution results suggested decrease longer sonication time. FTIR spectra also indicated delamination material....

Muscovite from a Brazilian natural source was beneficiated using knife mills and an ultrasound treatment. It possible to achieve mica with particle size of below 100 above 45 μm thickness between 0.5 1 μm. This product could be used for the synthesis intensely coloured pearlescent pigments based on muscovite covered rare earth oxides (CeO 2 , PrO Ce 0.95 Pr 0.05 O ). Pigments were prepared by hydrolysis characterised X‐ray diffraction, thermal analyses (thermogravimetric/differential...
