Nanocomposites reinforced with nano-scale reinforcements exhibit excellent mechanical properties low volume fraction of the reinforcement. For instance, only an addition 0.7 vol.% few-layer graphene (FLG) into pure titanium shows strength ~1.5 GPa, obviously much superior to that monolithic titanium. The strengthening efficiency composites is determined by several factors such as reinforcement geometrical/spatial characteristics and interfacial features between matrix metal-matrix...

Deformation behavior of centimeter-scale Ni-based metallic glass matrix composites reinforced by brass fibers, synthesized warm extrusion gas atomized powders, has been investigated under the uniaxial compression condition at room temperature. Throughout process, all blended spherical powders are elongated along direction. The fibers well distributed in for containing up to 0.4 volume fraction and no pores visible. With increasing content, elastic modulus strength decrease due softness...
