Seventy-two pigs of three genetic groups (Brazilian indigenous breed Piau, Commercial line and Crossbred) both sexes were slaughtered at four live weights (30, 60, 90 120 kg). Intramuscular fat (IMF) content in Longissimus dorsi muscle each animal was extracted correlated with candidate gene mRNA expression (ATN1, EEF1A2, FABP3, LDLR, MGP, OBSCN, PDHB, TRDN RYR1). Within slaughter weight kg, Piau Crossbred showed higher IMF (p < 0.05) than commercial animals, 2.48, 2.08 1.00% respectively....

Linkage disequilibrium (LD) across the genome is critical information for association studies and genomic selection because it determines number of SNP that should be used a successful analysis selection. also influences accuracy breeding values. Some have demonstrated in strong LD are organized into discrete blocks haplotypes, which separated by possibly hot spots recombination. To reduce markers needed to genotyped mapping, set can selected labels all haplotype blocks. We estimated LD,...

Genomic selection and genomic wide association studies are widely used methods that aim to exploit the linkage disequilibrium (LD) between markers quantitative trait loci (QTL). Securing a sufficiently large set of genotypes phenotypes can be limiting factor may overcome by combining data from multiple breeds or using crossbred information. However, estimated effect marker in one breed only useful for animals another if there is correspondence phase QTL across breeds. Using five pure pig...

Meta-analysis based on a random-effects model is used to summarise and overcome the variability between divergent parameter estimates. We proposed meta-analysis of published heritability genetic-correlation estimates for reproduction, growth carcass traits in purebred Nellore cattle. In total, 197 107 from 62 scientific publications were here. Most (gestation length; weights at birth, 120, 210, 365 550 days age; mature weight all traits) presented direct ranging 0.20 0.40. This study aimed to compare two different Genome-Wide Selection (GWS) methods (Ridge Regression BLUP − RR-BLUP and Bayesian LASSO BL) predict the genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) of four phenotypes, including boar taint compounds, i.e., concentrations androstenone (andro) skatole (ska), carcass traits, backfat thickness (fat) loin depth (loin), which were measured in a commercial male pig line. Six hundred twenty-two boars genotyped for 2,500 previously selected single nucleotide...

Abstract Background Heat stress (HS) poses significant threats to the sustainability of livestock production. Genetically improving heat tolerance could enhance animal welfare and minimize production losses during HS events. Measuring phenotypic indicators response understanding their genetic background are crucial steps optimize breeding schemes for improved climatic resilience. The identification genomic regions candidate genes influencing traits interest, including variants with...

This study aimed to investigate the impact of genotype-by-environment interaction (GEI) on body weight (BW) in meat quails. BW data from ten generations, recorded 7 (BW7), 14 (BW14), 21 (BW21), 28 (BW28), 35 (BW35), and 42 (BW42) days after hatching were used for analyses. A temperature humidity index (THI) divided into two classes (less or equal than 68 - THI1 greater -THI2) was as environmental descriptor. Variance components genetic parameters, including heritability correlation...

Nellore is the main cattle breed used in Brazil, being largest commercial herd world. Beyond importance of male reproductive efficiency for farm profit, use techniques, mainly artificial insemination, turns evaluation traits even more important. Estimation genetic parameters increases knowledge on variances and allows envisaging possibility inclusion new as selection criterion. Genetic fifteen that can be classified testicular biometry or physical morphological semen were estimated a bull...
